big cow winter duathlon 1

Postby carl f » Sat Feb 21, 2009 9:27 pm

Neil barnes and myself drove up to MK this morning for mine and his first duathlon race of the season on a fine sunny day
This is only a small distance-4.2k run/16k bike/4.5k run,but the non drafting bike split is on a traffic free twisty and fairly technical course (12 laps of the MK bowl)
I have only just started running again after a calf injury lay off for 6 weeks or so,so didn't really want to push it on the first run too much and neil hasn't really trained for duathlon over the winter so wasn't expecting too much

Results:

Finish Run 1(4.2k) Cycle(16k) Run 2(4.5k)

1:Adam Bowden Team MK 53.40 12.42 26.51 12.48
2:Scot Wiseman Team MK 56.38 14.27 26.51 14.21
3:Carl Ferri Addiscombe CC 58.36 16.16 26.21 14.49 :D
42:Neil Barnes Addiscombe CC 108.30 18.21 28.42 19.11
108....

I won my race entry fee for coming 3rd BUT they also put me in a vets cat  which i also won, BUT i'm not 40 until november........
Well done to neil for putting in a good show too
Cheers

Well done chaps, in BTF rules your put in the age group that corresponds to your age at the end of the year. I think anyway...

Nothing wrong in being a Vet!

Well done Carl, top race. And now (dare I say this) duathlons are on my list of events this year (along with TTs and tris). Just to clarify - my time was 1hr08 not 108 minutes! Now if I can just speed up that second run....

Cheers

Thanks chaps
Perhaps you should try running for a few more buses and eventually come and join me in a race?
