Sunday 1st March - offroad ride?

Postby Grahame » Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:10 am

For the second week in a row, I have a Sunday pass :D . But this one comes at a price - no saturday clubrun for me this week :( .

So, who's up for a bit of muddy fun? I don't mind if we stay local or drive out to either Peaslake for a Leith Hill ride or going to Bracknell Forest for a day trip

So, who's in?

Steve and I are down South this weekend. Not sure of plans yet but would probably join you guys if you were out at Peaslake/Leith.

A guy (Allen) that my other half works with has found out that I belong to a club and he would love to try MTB'n with a club.

I have sent him some pics and links to our forum & digest.

QUESTIONS.
Is this Sunday ride to hard core for a newbie?
Should I recommend a CR off road first?

What do you think?

Hi Grahame,
I really enjoyed our winter ramble but this Sunday is the Ditchling sportive. Hope to enjoy another of your offroad adventures soon!

Leith Hill is good for me, just an easy one though.

OK, Leith Hill it is. Play/recovery pace unless everybody is comfortable with going faster. There are some technical bits out there, but take them steady (or avoid them - we'll show you how), and most people with a modicom of sense and some bike handling skills will be OK. Having said that, I'd probably not recommend it for a first ever offroad ride.

How about we meet at 9:30am at ECBR to sort out cars, or 10:30am at the lower carpark in Peaslake. It's about 200 yards past the hotel on this map http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=508500&y=144500&z=120&sv=peaslake&st=3&tl=Map+of+Peaslake,+Surrey+[City/Town/Village]&searchp=ids.srf&mapp=map.srf. Go into Peaslake, turn right at the triangle with the bus shelter on the right, then immediately right again, the car park is 200 yards on your left.

Who has car space available?

I can take two other people and two other bikes.

Hey folks,

I could do with a lift from ECBR if possible but not yet sure whether I will be able to make it - I'll have to see. I would train it but there seems to be a replacement bus service to get to Dorking from Epsom and only other way for me would be to go to GUildford and then cycle to Peaslake and that looks to be around 8 miles from what I can tell.

Would you still have space Graheame?...or does anyone else??

Space reserved for Joel.

Room for one more person and one more bike in my car.
