Summer Heat Crit

Thanks to the racers who rode this hot crit. For those of you that couldn't make it think about the next PatentIt! event. It will be at a race track but hopefully it will be earlier in the season. There were some interesting things at the Firebird Raceway event that may entice you to make the next PatentIt! event. For instance, Fetish Cycles set up their cool display of hot products. And they had numerous shirt primes as well as two frames given as primes. There were two massage tables giving free massages to riders, as well as several message primes. XS sports drinks had a booth and gave a bunch of drink primes. The Sock Guy sent some socks as primes too. The highlight was the bonus prizes of $500 each to the top cat men and women racers that "Coop" Cooper with CTX Mortgage Company, gave on top of the normal payout. Hope all you riders enjoyed the fast, clean race track and the event overall.

Prizes in US races are often generous.

Regular Saturday morning races in Prospect Park Brooklyn, carry a total prize list of over $1200 each week. $500 divided amongst the top 8 Cat 1 - 3 race.

The the one off Crits throughout the year (similar to Guildford) but in NYS there maybe 2 each weekend (saying that NY state is bigger than the UK) but we all think nothing of a 2 hour train ride to get to a race!!! Well it's often $1000 to the Cat 1-3 winner and so many primes in each race, literally $50 (or a pair of socks) every 3rd lap or so - crazy. The big events whch the pro teams visit (remember USA has it's own pro scene) have prize lists in the tens of thousands.

Saying that, 5th place in the last local Cat 4 event was worth $5, in a cheque!
