[quote="Paul H"]Notice Mulberry and 4 other NPs were DNFs in the 2/3. Was the race not disciplined or smooth enough?

Well you wouldn't know would you! I believe they have bigger fish to fry than Surrey League races. Remember it's only March...

Good to see that you all rode with your heads and got the result. I would like to see you all try it in a 2nd cat race though...

I do know and have got in successful 2nd cat breaks for the last 2 seasons.

I will be doing Dunsfold 3rds and a couple or SERRL 2nd Cat events and that will be it for me.

[quote]At that rate it won't be long before George and Paul are alongside Toks in the 2nd cats' race instead of sandbagging in the 3rds.

According to the results, the 2/3 race was slower so its not us that were sandbagging

Stab in the dark....

3rd cat race - 60 miles, winner the mighty George Brent in 2.33.00
2/3rd cat race - 70 miles, winner some geezer in 2.59.00

WHo went quicker? Do the math....

I can't make my mind up whether to congratulate you guys on a fantastic 1-2 or to highlight that racing against such opposition makes you ..... a pair of ringers. So having dithered on the matter for the last three days, I'm going to do both.

Fantastic result guys......sounds like total domination and a deserved reward for your efforts and training. An easy win and good way to kick-off the season. :D

Leave those poor third-cats alone. I'd expect you to do nothing less but mash them. What a pair of ringers!

P.S. The guy in third place is a ringer too! What is this World coming to?

Was the 3rd cat race actually 60 miles? They're not usually that long.

But thats not the point, you cannot compare the severity of two races based upon average speed. Firstly, surely as a tester Snoop you can appreciate that weather conditions would be totally different 4 hours apart. And also, the dynamics of the two races would have been totally different.

So, I have to say I agree with Tony's second point, I just didn't want to be the one to say it first. Like I said, before, let's see if George and Paul can dominate a 2nd cat race in such fashion. After all, Paul thinks it must be easy...

Look at it this way guys - they are merely trying to get 2nd cat points as soon as possibel in order to be able to enter e12 races, and so to give the 3rd cat racers a break - and the quickest way to do this is by entering 3rd cats only races :)

Just to be clear, I don't actually have a real issue with people dominating 3rd Cat races who are actually a clear cut above that level of racing. It often happens at this time of the year with people switching from different racing disciplines, making a come-back etc. Arguably, the 2nd Cat race had some ringers in it too - e.g. the winner, the guy in 5th and doubtless a few others too - although dominating and winning a 2nd cat races is quite hard no matter who you are.

Of course, this fact will not prevent the mickey from being extracted.

Picking-up on another thread.....anyone who suggests that you get a better race with 3rd cats than 2nd cats is, as they know, not being very sensible!

I wouldnt say I was a ringer - bare in mind that I have never won a road race. I didnt write the rules, by not doing many races last year, I was demoted to a 3rd Cat which I probably shouldnt be just like some others got promoted to a level they shouldnt be by doing too many races.

As Tony said the categories are mixed up at this time of year. I would say the Kirkford 3rd race would be not far off the standard of a mid season 2nd Cat race when the decent riders have moved up.

I cant dominate 2nd Cat races but can get in breaks, do my fair share of work, get placings and if I did more races later in the year, maybe a win.

Thats what the forum is all about isnt it?

I think your understanding of road racing is far from the level it needs to be to be making comments like that, Paul.

Read that back to yourself, and see if you can work out why you won't win a 2nd cat race.

"do my fair share of work"?

If I was serious about road racing, I would win a 2nd Cat race.

Talking about ringers, how is your mate that worked for you in our Club's Road Race Champs? Has he paid his subs yet?

Glad I'm not very fast Paul, couldn't take the hassle  .

My reading (could be wrong) is simply that Paul and George do their road racing for fun, do other things so not building a season around road racing and gathering points, have most fun forcing things and winning in a 3rd cat race. There's a problem :? .

Well I think its disgusting that 2 of our club members, both 3rd cats, enter a 3rd cat race and have the audacity to win it. I mean how dare they, no wonder they look shifty in the winners photograph.
