[quote="Dombo"]Call me old school, but 2 metre Salomon 9000 Equipe 2S circa 1994 with matching pink boots really are the only way to go :D

I tried those parabolics for the first time ever this year (160cm!!!) and i am not entirely convinced i was having as much fun as on my old Dynamic VR27 Equipe giant slalom skis which must have been over 175cm and that i've used until last year. But that's all you see on the slopes and in the shop nowadays.

In a similar old-school approach i was trying to find a new old stock version of that ski and found out the model name still exists today although the shape has gone the way of the rest of the skis to an extent. But I couldn't find anywhere to buy them, in the UK or France. Then I went to the ski shop to give back my rental skis and what do i find, the very model i was lusting after, heavily discounted. Given a choice of 162 or 172 i went for the longer of course - can't wait till next year:). Oh and carbon poles too!

I took mine to Cervinia a couple of years ago. Instructor, an Italian ex-downhill racer, laughed at me, said they should go on the wall of a restaurant, until a fast run down to Zermatt where I lost him on his little carvers. To a once-a-year Brit skier it was like dropping Lance on Alpe d'Huez :D

Found another pair on ebay, from a ski shop clearing their old stock, brand new still in their wrappers and without bindings...for £10. They still had the original price tag of £450!

5'8", about the same as you, and 65kg. They're P6. My old ones were P7 but had lost their springiness. Once you get some speed up and set them on their edges they carve like they're on rails. Good in the bumps too, and powder, crud and ice.
I find modern carvers too light and skittish.

Dark shades = goggles.

No Mark, I was very restrained, in actual fact had two alcohol free nights and only a couple of glasses on other nights. Oh, apart from Friday when I got a bit drunk on toffee vodka and Bailey's! Yum!
