SCCU Sporting 25

Bad day at the office for me really today. I decided to wear knee warmers as it seemed a bit chilly this morning which was a mistake. I didn't need them but worse was that I never get on with the damn things anyway as they always seem to clamp my thighs a bit, resulting in my legs never really feeling loose today. It always felt like they were stiff.

Excuses over, the course is 2 laps with a bit extra on the end. It starts with a drag for the first few miles so I thought, don't go mad to early and build it up. Result, I ended up pootling around the first lap  . By this stage it was too late to get the time back but I picked it up anyway and hammered it for the last 10 miles to try and salvage something.

I finished with a 1.07.46 which on this sporting course isn't that disastrous but I was disappointed as I've been going pretty well in the last few sportings, so felt I'd wasted my ride with my poor start as I could have got a reasonable time otherwise.

I had to nip off fairly sharpish to play the diligent son on Mother's Day but got a text from Rob later saying we'd won the team prize and he had a bottle of wine for me :D . Result. Anyone who mentions that we were the only club to get a full team finish today gets a scowl  .

Results:
Doug Shaw DNF ? Puncture? saw Keith replacing a tub by the roadside having been a victim of the fairies.
Robert R-E 1.05.27
Jon Hemming 1.04.17
Andrew Green 1.07.46

AG World Series: T'other AG had a good ride today and comfortably beat me.
Winner: Ben Instone 53.18  :!: (don't know this course record so don't know if he added this one to his growing collection).

What time was your start Andrew, suprised you needed leg warmers at all today.

Shame you took it a little easy at first, been following your progress against the other AG and you've been going well. Next time mate.

9.24 start time and I didn't need them. The HQ was a couple of miles away though and at the top of a hill, and getting the bike ready and starting my warm up it felt a bit chilly. Not going to use them again regardless of weather though, if anyone wants some Campagnolo knee warmers they're going for free. I've tried a few makes now and always had problems with them, these are the best I've used but still don't suit my legs.

Afraid the only puncture I suffered today was a mental one

I saw him coming along the A29 as I was driving home and he looked like he was hammering along. Not sure about the orange socks though :?
