Latin America by Bike - Clive Parker - Monday 6th April 2009

Postby Alan M » Wed Mar 04, 2009 7:30 pm

Hi everybody, I recently read Clive's book and really enjoyed his perspective on cycling so invited him to give a talk to ACC members. This will also serve as one of our renown social evenings. As some of you will know the Spreadeagle is next to the Clocktower and central library in Croydon and offers a good selection of beers, wines and food. I hope to see many of you and would appreciate it if you could reply if you aim to attend. I will also be inviting members of my Spanish group and people from SWRC my second claim cycling club so it should be an interesting event. Feel free to bring friends and family but let me know how many.

An illustrated talk by Clive Parker, author of Pedalling Panama

In 2006 Clive completed a 7,000 km solo bike ride from Northern Mexico to the Panama Canal through seven countries of Central America. He has written an absorbing account of this in his book “Pedalling to Panama”
published by Author House.

Clive has also cycled in Ecuador, Cuba, Chile, Spain and France.

Monday 6th April 2009 upstairs at Spreadeagle Pub in Croydon, 7.30pm

This clashes with the Majorca trip, I would go otherwise, it sounds interesting.

Will it all be over by then?

I should think it will last a bit longer than that and maybe we won't start on exactly time. He certainly has a lot of material to cover.

List so far

I will be passing out flyers in the next couple of weeks and Doug will be advertising it as well.

Cheers

Alan - sorry I can't be certain...yet. Mrs Snoop goes running on Monday evenings so it'll depend what time she gets back. Give and take, I'm out Tues and Weds so we'll see. I hope to be there as this sounds fun & interesting. Good effort from your organising this so here's to a good turn out :D

And thanks for your support, btw noticed the local guardian events diary today as I was seeking to publicise it to a slightly wider audience with the view that it is a good way to market the club see

This is a reasonable free local advert and would be happy to put something on line about sat club runs if you like?
