When: Saturday 2nd May (Bank Holiday Weekend).
Where: 9am at GBs (prompt departure).
Distance: circa 150 miles.
Duration: 9 hours-ish (bring some lights as you will probably need them towards the end to get home safely).
Terrain: Very rolling (my Garmin watch said 4,900 metres of climbing last time!).
Pace: Steady. This is a very long, tough ride and is about endurance. Speed will not be that slow but neither will it be a race.
Minimum ability needed: Strong 18s rider - you must be happy doing a ride of this length in both distance and duration, and it is not flat. We'll briefly regroup at the top of any climbs that split us but will not be waiting on people who just can't keep up as we will need to keep moving or we'll be out all night.
Lunch stop: Hopefully the same Italian in Rye, although probably a slightly shorter stop to get back a bit earlier as it will get darker than when we went in July last year.
Route: I'll sort out a copy of an OS with the route highlighted on it and post it up. I'd recommend that you bring a copy with you in case you get lost or need to turn back. There is the potential to get lost so it may vary slightly but last time it was great so I'm going to try for the same. E.g. We got did a little loop around the Darwell Reservoir (see the googlemap link below) which added a few miles on last time when we missed a turn but it was a very nice getting lost.
