Who’s got a helmet camera, lets get a club run uploaded on to utube for roller sessions !!

No CR as nursing a dodgy stomach :( .
Did get my bike ready for next week though :D , i.e. switched standard chainset for a compact to make long climbs less honky.

me and ant set off as the only guys up for a training group ride.

we got a smooth system going sharing the front into a sometimes awful headwind, and other times a delightful tale wind. for some reason i always seemed to get the headwinds

recently me and ant have been arguing about who is the better sprinter and have jokingly said we need an even match one day, and so today was the perfect day to find out...

3 miles out from the sprint we slowed down and rode side by side, making sure we were evenly tired. as we got to the last km we started to pick it up slightly, but staying side by side. as we got to the second to last corner we both clunked up to our bigger gears, and as we swept round the last corner we both let it rip

i was wrenching on the bars as hard as i could, and pushing the pedals so hard i was worried my foot would pop out. i could see ant right beside, me and i thought any second he will edge past me, or i will edge past him. as we crossed the line it was almost unbelievable how close it was, a complete photo finish !!neither one of us could tell. so as far as we know it was a draw

good ride on the way back with ant and paul. i was feeling particularly well enduranced today with all my stf i have been making since january. i had plenty of gas up box hill. me and paul and a good little battle up there, keeping out speed on the straights up at around 15mph . we shared the work pretty evenly, but i put in a devastating attack round the last hairpin to claim KOM.

we had a good blast back to coulsdon.

my club run consisted of driving round the bletchingley course putting up public notices about the road race next week. Yawn! Still - someone's gotta do it.

Spiky round things in the middle of the bike changed for smaller spiky round things.
Honky: A derivation (probably one I just made up) of honking, i.e. climbing out the saddle and climbing all over the bike so you look like the bloke out of Belleville Rendezvous.

Stu, you forgot to mention that Paul ran a 5km running race this morning and then did the club run route on his own on his tt bike, so I would imagine any kind of attack would have been difficult for Paul to react to. Also he did have a little tumble off his bike this morning as well.

Cheers

Marek.....

Pathetic effort from me. Joined the 19s and progressed well along the A23 and up the Reigate steps at which point it began to drizzle in earnest. Having done my usual trick of letting everyone get away on the down hill stretch to the lights I decided the now heavier rain was not for me, bid farewell to Grahame and headed home. Back up Croydon Road I was nearly taken out by a small white van overtaking the 17s and 18s fully on my side of the road. Rest assured that my yelled greeting of "You f****** stupid ****!" was addressed to WVM and not my fellow Agreeables.
Got home safely with 15 quality miles under my belt at no idea of average speed as Shimano flightdeck seems to work only intermittently when wet, dry, hot, cold moving or stationary. By this time of course the rain had stopped and it was now sunny.
Hope everyone else had a better time!

i hate headwinds. hate them. hate them. hate them. and WHY DOES THE SUN COME OUT NOWW!!!!!!
tbh it was a pretty good ride. except on the way back. where i constantly seemed to ride into a headwind despite however many turns i made or maybe i was just shockingly bad :P . most of it was in the small chainring too, practicing for when guru paul sabotages my bike again.

Yep, don't know why, with only the 2 of us it would have been an ideal day for some of you faster guys in the 19's to just sit in and see what the training group is like. Having said that the 2 of us still managed to average just under 23 mph to the cafe despite the wind and rain.

[quote="Stu Merckx Man"]we got a smooth system going sharing the front into a sometimes awful headwind, and other times a delightful tale wind. for some reason i always seemed to get the headwinds.

Yeah sorry about that Stu...honest. :)

[quote="Stu Merckx Man"]i was wrenching on the bars as hard as i could, and pushing the pedals so hard i was worried my foot would pop out. i could see ant right beside, me and i thought any second he will edge past me, or i will edge past him. as we crossed the line it was almost unbelievable how close it was, a complete photo finish !!neither one of us could tell. so as far as we know it was a draw.

Now that was fun, I think Stu had the biggest lead at one point of about 6 inches. I pulled level but that was it, no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get ahead, brilliant stuff.

Enjoyed my time on the bike today despite the wind and rain. Great laugh in the cafe as well though Pauls war wounds looked a bit sore. Hope your feeling ok.

I think you missed out "un" at the beginning of one of the words above.

[quote]Hope it was only your pride that got hurt Paul? How's you and that nice bike?

I manged to fall off on a straight bit of road on my own. I just have road rash which didnt prevent me from completing my ride and run. Its all Marek's and his bad karama fault. At least I got away with lying a lino the wife.
