RUSS appeal Ride For A Flight, Sunday 7th August

Postby Grahame » Fri Aug 05, 2005 10:54 am

The RUSS appeal http://www.russ-appeal.org.uk, named after Russ Pinder who broke his spine in a serious mountainbike accident in March 2003, and who feels he owes his life to the air amulance service, is holding a fundraiser this weekend in Chickenden.

I plan to attend on the Sunday, and would like to ask/beg fellow aggreeables to support the appeal.

The event is a "pay per lap" social ride around a cross country mountainbike loop. Riders are expected to raise £10 per lap.

Please make your pledges below - you can group together to fund a lap if you wish.

One lap for me Grahame. I'll see you on Saturday, that's if I manage to replace the dead STI on the Sunn, which I'm about to attempt just now ... bit of black magic for me!

And a lap for me

I'd like it to be done at "race pace" if you don't mind

Ok, so that's 3 laps plus the one (at least) that I'll pay for.

1 at "Race pace" for will 8) , followed by
1 at "As close to race pace as possible without getting a heart attack" for Sylvain :D
1 with somebody glued to my back wheel for Joanna  ,
Then 1 (or more) at whatever pace I can manage after that just for me  .

I'll let you know more about how it goes on Monday.

OK, I did it and survived:
Started with a gentle lap with Josie glued to my back wheel for Joanna.

Then a "fast" lap for Will, trying to look like I was racing - big ring all the way except for 200m of climbing
Then a pretty fast lap for Sylvain - big ring most of the way
Then a more gentle couple of laps for me and for Elliot

So total of 5 laps, contributing £50 to the fund.

If I don't see you beforehand, you can hand over the cold, hard cash in Moab. :D
