Notable Absence

Postby Michelle » Sun Mar 29, 2009 5:56 pm

I've been dealing with some symptoms for the last few weeks, which has been incredibly frustrating as I don't know what the hell has been wrong with me.

Well I went to see the Doc last week, and we had a long chat a did a blood test. Basically he didn't know exactly what was wrong.
But he thought it was Post Viral Fatigue.

The upshot is, that I am off work at the moment and most certainly off the bike. More blood tests to come Tuesday.

Anyhoo, all this means that I won't be riding for a while let alone racing, but if I can sort it with work I would still like to come to Majorca (sans bike) and use it as recuperation.

I just wanted to let everyone know because I have had a lot of kind enquiries about my health. I am just sorry I won't be able to represent the mighty ACC for the forseeable :(

Sorry to hear that Michelle. I was asking after you last time I saw Keith. He told me you'd been bad for about 5 weeks.

Hope you find out exactly whats wrong and that it all gets sorted asap and you get back out with us soon.....don't leave it too long, summer will be here. :D

Michelle... this is no good. I know how frustrated you must be having been laid off the bike myself before... Hope you pick it up again soon...

Really sorry to hear about that Michelle - post viral fatigue is not joke. Make sure you get lots of rest and eat well. Try and start up a temporary (sedentary) hobby that you've not had time to do in the past. A few people have suffered with this in the past and they got back and were able to race (with proper management). Just keep in mind that this is temporary and you'll be back - and I look forward to seeing you back. :)

Take Care,

Maria

Michelle, sorry to hear that - it is surprisingly common and debilitating, and the worst thing possible for an "active" person, as mentally you want to do more, but your body wants to do less.
I went through this when I was in my 20's and it was horrible - I couldn't even walk to the shops - although little was knwn of it then.

but the good news is that it is only temporary and you WILL get through it and once clear will soon get back to where you were.

Plenty of rest - I know how hard that is, but believe me you must do it, and when you get back on the bike, build up VERY SLOWLY.

Thanks for your thoughts and well wishes. You are right Maria it is no joke at all, I have gone from 15 hours a week on the bike to nothing, just like that.

Dr Google scared me stupid, loads of people have put ' I have had this now for 7 years.....' ARRGHHHHHHH.

So your tales of submission then comeback are most welcome. Believe me I am taking it easy, I have no other option. And I am intrinsically very lazy so I will make sure I don't make myself do too much. :D

PS Andrew, I just LOVE that smiley!
