[quote="Mo Jaffer"] sylv should be more evil =P

well done everyone, agreed ant, sylv seems to be on fire. keep it up lads.

From our (with wife Jean) point of view Sylv ain't got an evil bone in his body. Did tell him at the start that after finishing 2nd to George in the 'Keith tribute' race, it was his turn to win ... 8th, and ahead of you, George isn't too bad at all, though. As far all this chat about tactics — it's an early April 2/3 race, testing your fitness is surely more important.

From our flag-waving viewpoint at the narrow bridge just before the hill to the finish, motorists were well mannered and controlled. Think the weather made most happy - we even handed out water to some passing Traveller-folk!

Sounds like a great race... and an impressive performance again this week by a much-improved Sylv. I'm sure George has a lot more to deliver yet this season too...on top of his wins already. And good to see Hal doing a proper road-race on a real circuit. Shame that RRing for ACC a few years ago was a comparatively solitary affair.

In a break so dominated by Paragon riders its difficult to know what to suggest in terms of tactics. The surprising thing, I guess, is that such a break was allowed to develop in the first place. If you find yourself in such a position, I think you simply have to do your fair share of work - but don't go overboard. Given that you will race against these same riders week-in week-out, you won't want to get a reputation as a wheel-sucker. Plus with five riders from the same team, you risk being taken out of the back if you sit on in any case. When it comes to the pointy-end of the race, if you have anything left, I think you basically have to attack on your terms and take the race to everyone else - ideally helped with some newly-formed allies. However, I don't think any tactics would have enabled anyone to beat Calland and Prebble yesterday (maybe a secret stash of drawing pins to be surreptitiously deployed was the answer).

[quote="Sylv"]Maybe I should just get Madame Tony to predict my 3-day result in advance and not even bother racing

Not sure if Madame Tony will be doing too many more predictions, best to quit when you are ahead....although if the money is right, I'm sure Madame Tony could be persuaded to gaze in to the crystal ball once more....

[quote="kieran"]We had a woman drive up to us (in a yellow 4x4 truck/jeep thingy), roll down her window and moan about not having enough warning of the race. We pointed out a notice pinned to the lamp post beside us which warned of the race, giving date and time, and she swore it wasn't there 2 weeks ago. Asked who we were etc.

Kieran. She was right, they weren't there two weeks earlier - they were there a week earlier. How d'you think I know 8) . Just give her my number  . I called the rozzers to whom she complained and confirmed my actions.

I'm sure it's the same woman in the same 4x4 who moans at as many people as she can every time there is a road race in the area. Did she repeatedly use the phrases I just expect some notice...I'd just like to be asked..... (or something very similar) in a slightly affected accent and speaking with extra emphasis on each word to ensure lesser-beings like us can understand her?

Of course, this confirms that my powers of prediction are almost uncanny! I got the first, second and leading ACC riders placed accurately, crash predicted, plus moaning woman in 4x4 predicted. Were there any incidents with horses? Other than the Grand National running in parallel....

Ok Tony here's five more you may wanna have a go at.

1. Will an ACC 2nd cat win a race this year(I don't know if its ever happened, not a full claimer - Sorry Adam)?
2. Who will be the next ACC 3rd cat to win a race?
2. Who will be the next ACC 3rd cat to make it to 2nd cat?
3. Will Dominic make 3rd cat in less or more than 5 races?
4. Who will win at Palace this season - Steve, Keith or Kieran (3/4's)?
5. Will you ever make a racing return?

Point 4: not me, not even a top 5 likely for the first few months of palace, as I have just started some sort of 'panic' training now, so a 'bit' behind everyone else.

So should the notices have gone up 2 weeks before hand?

Well done Sylv, shame I had to miss the carnage that this must have been when you all hit the hills on this course. Good work from those involved in making it happen and glad you got a good day for it.

Don't think so dude, I was asked to put them up in the week before the race - which I did - just  . Anyhoo, the unhappy bunny is a known complainer. Mrs Meldrew
