Sounds like a great race... and an impressive performance again this week by a much-improved Sylv. I'm sure George has a lot more to deliver yet this season too...on top of his wins already. And good to see Hal doing a proper road-race on a real circuit. Shame that RRing for ACC a few years ago was a comparatively solitary affair.
In a break so dominated by Paragon riders its difficult to know what to suggest in terms of tactics. The surprising thing, I guess, is that such a break was allowed to develop in the first place. If you find yourself in such a position, I think you simply have to do your fair share of work - but don't go overboard. Given that you will race against these same riders week-in week-out, you won't want to get a reputation as a wheel-sucker. Plus with five riders from the same team, you risk being taken out of the back if you sit on in any case. When it comes to the pointy-end of the race, if you have anything left, I think you basically have to attack on your terms and take the race to everyone else - ideally helped with some newly-formed allies. However, I don't think any tactics would have enabled anyone to beat Calland and Prebble yesterday (maybe a secret stash of drawing pins to be surreptitiously deployed was the answer).
[quote="Sylv"]Maybe I should just get Madame Tony to predict my 3-day result in advance and not even bother racing
Not sure if Madame Tony will be doing too many more predictions, best to quit when you are ahead....although if the money is right, I'm sure Madame Tony could be persuaded to gaze in to the crystal ball once more....
