I have been heard saying that I am not sure about the current design - For my taste it is a little overstated and 90s. I think 5 years is a goodish shelf life before we consider presenting an updated and new image to the cycling public. I am not sure about the complaints of it potentially making existing kit redundant. I think people will replace kit on the basis of it being worn out or wanting to change for aesthetic or fashion reasons. In general it seems to me that jeans apart very few articles of clothing reach the point where they are no longer wearable - people expect to change styles and discard the out of date; so why should cycling attire be any different? Old kit can of course continue to be worn and may in time achieve a retro status. I have never found the Santani shorts very hard wearing or comfortable and I think I agree with the thrust towards 'retro chic' and the club's illustrious past - perhaps with more black than yellow in the design and a little less garish, dare I say 'cool'. I think my family would appreciate a slightly less illuminated version of me over the breakfast coffee!

I have to say that I have never received a compliment on the design of the kit but I suppose that it is noticeable and distinctive. Clearly design and taste is is somewhat subjective but it is not entirely illogical that over time, what once seemed the very fashionable will eventually begin to appear dated, and so in my view it is worthwhile considering a change and commissioning the production some design alternatives. This would all be marketable as an image of a fresh thinking and open-to-change organisation and ultimately would underscore our other successes and make us more attractive to new members. BTW I am not in favour of a plebiscite on this - it is too divisive and negates the reason for having a committee. So committee, I would however formally propose that it be considered at the next meeting so if someone can tell me who is the secretary and how it can get on the agenda for discussion I believe this is logically the next stage.

Black is not so good, for one you'll all be getting hit by cars as much as me.

Also, no-one will ever spot an ACCer in a race if you have black kit!

How about carrying some ads? Local shops for local riders, eg GBs, Regalino's, and maybe Harwoods, the Range Rover showroom on the A23 we pass on the CR.

Nice words Alan, I'm completely with you Sir. Michelle I still think its a fairly decent kit as far as kits that have yellowishness in them go. You haven't had yours for five so perhaps you'd feel differently then.

I mean its no way near as bad as Norwood Paragon's (Hideous - sorry you all know its true despite the classy riders), De Ver (sick and not in a cool way right Mo?) and one or two others such as Kenton RC. I just think its time for an update. Something cool and slightly understated. Surely that makes sense given that we're essentially made up of thirty and forty something blokes.

God I must be in the wrong club I like the Paragon's colours but then I like ours as it is

I know it's slightly off topic but was the club kit a deciding factor when you joined the club or were there other reasons?

big hostage to fortune here Toks - light the blue touch paper and then retire!

Yes it is, start a thread on reasons for joining the club! But, I guess for most it would not be a deciding factor but it plays into the mix in more subliminal ways, like how club members feel about their allegiance and how many wear the kit on club runs and elsewhere. These days, although not wishing to set myself up as 'too style conscious by half' I tend only to wear ACC kit when I am representing the club, in sportives or races or marshalling .

Slightly off topic but what is the correct etiquette when wishing to don pro team kit?

I only ask because I saw an overweight, whey-faced lardo waddling away from a kebab van the other night squeezed into a "footer" top emblazoned with the legend Rooney 10 on the back; and rather fancy a retro yellow jersey with a US Postal panel on the chest and "Armstrong 1" pinned just above my a*se.

I quite like the kit as it is now. I see no real reason to change it just for the sake of it.

One thing I do know for sure is that from a personal point of view I'd hate it to go all retro...whats the point and where will it end...buying our tea and cake at the cafe in pounds, shillings and pence. :D

Can we get Assos to make the shorts, comfort is important.

I think club kit is very important to get youngsters more involved in terms of how cool it looks etc. I live in EG and their club kit is absolutely awful (sorry EG guys) and therefore I would not even contemplate joining or racing for them until they reviewed not just the style of the kit but also the colours. So if I am thinking that, what would a bunch of 17 or 18 year olds be thinking.

I think the ACC kit is actually pretty reasonable, but if others feel it needs refreshing then go for it, think will need to stick with the current colours otherwise it would be difficult for other teams to tell we were from same club in races where we have a number wearing old and new kit as is bound to happen for first few years.

Cheers

Marek....

its a factor, but atm our kits not bad enough to deter people my age upto stu's from not joining. its more the fact they think we're superhuman freaks who wear skintight lycra. money is also an issue.

I think we should completely change our kit design and get it made by Assos

What a load of Baloney, I love my the club colours and am proud to wear it when riding :D

There sure are alot of winging ninnies complaining about the Addiscombe club kit, runs, vc,s, websites. Where were you all at the AGM? and decision making meetings. Its easy to talk but if you want something done in your club you have to help do it.

Theres one real champion of the club when real matters arise and things need doing and thats Snoop, he just gets things done that others don't :D

Crikey George, coming from someone as enthusiastic and supportive as you that's very kind indeed , I'm feeling the love, and I'm most definitely not worthy. There are of course a good number of people flying the flag, getting things done. If I manage anything, then I hope it's to create a more inclusive feel about the place, to encourage folk to have a go, and to support marco in his endless quest for cycling to equal fun.

Now - on this club kit idea...I recall a design that for some reason got rejected last time around...  How about it folks, aero  easy to clean   certaily attracts attention
