Accessorise (noun becomes a verb?) your ACC kit off the bike - cool or what?

For what it is worth, I too like the kit. As far as I am aware nobody is forced to buy it (perhaps racers?) albeit that a lot of people seem to be wearing it with pride on a Saturday.

Yes, I am sure that periodic review and consideration of the point is warranted, but unless there is a strong groundswell of opinion against the current design (itself hardly antiquated), an update would seem unnnecessary.

At the end of the day you cannot please all of the people all of the time.

I will now return to my box.

[quote="George"]I think we should completely change our kit design and get it made by Assos

What a load of Baloney, I love my the club colours and am proud to wear it when riding :D

There sure are alot of winging ninnies complaining about the Addiscombe club kit, runs, vc,s, websites. Where were you all at the AGM? and decision making meetings. Its easy to talk but if you want something done in your club you have to help do it.

Theres one real champion of the club when real matters arise and things need doing and thats Snoop, he just gets things done that others don't :D

Here is a possible point of compromise, to produce an original edition club shirt, example of CTC here http://www.impsport.com/direct1/index.p ... t&catId=13 but of course made of modern materials, maybe bamboo!!

i think we need to give it a few years before we actually change the kit. shorts possibly could be done earlier.
i'm not keen on the retro idea with yellow as the base colour.

on the kit issue, maybe a club tracksuit??????

Wow, first he sets the hares running then abandons ship and any other metaphor, like you can't put the genie back in the bottle and the deed is done!! I placed an item on the next committee agenda as follows:

Notwithstanding the range of view exhibited on this thread in the Forum I would like the committee to consider the following actions at the next available opportunity.

"With a view to deciding whether or not to update club kit:

1. undertake an analysis of the costs of such an exercise
2. take soundings from other clubs that have recently changed kits as to the benefits if any of such a change
3. commission some preliminaryl investigatory work on alternative designs and potential suppliers
4. thereafter, to decide whether to go ahead with with a change and the relevant time scale, but if not, to consider when the committee should review the matter again

No turning back amigo

The last ime that we did it (with the kit that we have now):

Idea started much like it has now
Momentum gained
Somebody (skilled in the area) came up with a number of designs
Designs passed around the committee, agreement on direction
Suitable supplier found (with the help of GB Cycles)
GB Cycles agreed to take on the distribution of the kit
Design agreed
Big party launch one Friday evening with cakes drink at GB Cycles

It only took a few individuals to drive this but it needed the support of the committee and it was really powerful when examples were drawn up.

I think that the kit is great but could do with a freshen up.

Another thought occurs around the value of sponsorship. Some cubs do feature their major sponsors on their team shirts. Such associations can have benefits for both parties; GB has been a silent partner for a number of years but it is a well established local brand and it would not seem entirely illogical to create a more mutually beneficial relationship. As I say, just a thought and no doubt there will be views on both sides but it probably worth considering all this in the round.

I say a big no to sponsorship on the kit. We are a cycling club not a sponsored team, and we don't need to stick a shop name on the jersey to gain funds as the club has enough without needed sponsorship from a local trader.

Personally I prefer the original style kit as I think it has a more classic look to it (the one that is similar to the Campagnolo heritage kit), that said I don't have anything against the current kit either (apart from The Agreeables tag on the collar which I don't like and doesn't fit in with a racing image when you are racing in it). I'm proud to wear it in races and the only issues I've ever had has been with insects being drawn to the yellow when at Palace which was easily resolved by getting one of the previous "tyre track" designs which is predominantly white.

Can't do any harm to scout the market and check out prospective costs etc and get some designs. The only things that spring instantly to mind are:
a) current stock levels of kit.
b) poor exchange rate. I like Santini kit and also have found Nalini and Biemme to be good but a European supplier is going to be expensive at the moment with a 1:1 GBP/EUR r.o.e. Would we be better to promote British anyway and look at Endura who make some excellent kit.

Regardless of a) and b) it can't do any harm as I doubt this sort of thing is done in five minutes with designs, suppliers negotiations etc etc.
