Sean, forget about the bike, you have one month to get in some more training that will be far more valuable, and this might also save you even more body weight that you can lose on the wheels.

FYI someone was selling a pair of Lightweights at Cutmill for £1,300ono, they must have been around 1kg :)

(the man who was only recently contemplating losing 100gm off his Shimano front clincher rim wheel by replacing it with a lighter, more carbony, more expensive Shimano) :lol:

I am working on it - you just concentrate on riding your bike in a straight line.

:D Seriously though, if you lost only a couple of pounds in weight in the next few weeks you'd get far more benefits than borrowing better wheels for the bike (which even given a REALLY good pair would only save you grams at best), benefits which would still be apparent when you returned the wheels on your return.

Given the time until the event I'm sure you could achieve that???
