Strange ride

I went for a ride on something very peculiar at the weekend.

The saddle was very wide, the pedals just hung down at the side instead of going round in circles, and as far as steering was concerned it seemed to have a mind of its own. It was quite comfy at walking speed, but got a bit bumpy when going faster. I've never seen this type of bike in the shops - can anyone help me out with what it was?

Did it smell.....vaguely of UHU? I ate a piece of horse once, couldn't manage the whole one
