Saturday ride set-up

Postby Andy » Tue Aug 16, 2005 11:38 am

I'm thinking of coming out with the club run this Saturday for what would be.... a third or fourth time.

But all the other times have been on MTB with knobbies in 2004. After gentle nagging from Monty, I did acquire a Bianchi road bike with toe clips, eight months ago, but from that point, I unfortunately found the allure of the dark(er) force, Dulwich Paragon.

However, their route is a tad dicey (crashed on a downhill) and I remember the ACC having lots of (friendly) people with a good ride pace. I should be able to ride it at least 15mph. though I'm aware this is probably the lowest standard group. Does it still go out or will I have to grit my teeth with a 17mph group (which might result in me blowing up on Church hill on the way back, like I did every time on my MTB  ).

PS. And I'm not averse to going up Box Hill either; one of my more favoured climbs, as long as I'm not suffering...

Ah yes, I'd forgotten all about it. Well then, perhaps this Sat wouldn't exactly be the best time....

Well..... that does sound enticing. And cake only sweetens the deal... :o

But I've never raced; hell, I'm only 17. Plus my ability is still lacking despite what you say.
(oh and I'm not a first-claim member. Or a member at all.....)

you can sign up on the day..i did my first time trial at 15, first race 17...and....road racing is like pringles...once you pop you wont stop...so drink some red bull...find the motivation and come down!!!

more to the point, if youre only 17, you must be a slacker in life like me!

wanna come out and play tomorrow? meet at butlers at 8 45. :D

I'll pass, but thanks for the offer. I should be out on a Saturday ride in the next three weeks, if laziness/fatigue/oversleeping doesn't get me.

 Give me a year, SPDs, and first-claim membership, I reckon, before I start any kind of racing.

I reckon I'll be out this Saturday, weather permitting - either J4F or 15mph or something like that. Should be good 8)
