Well where are the results...how did we do...I missed out due to business.

Just spoke to young Jack, the youngster did well tonight...he was to late to enter the junior race so as he turned 16 last week he went with the 3/4's and got 5th place...now thats impressive going against a big field. :D

Sutton Cyling Youth Team I seem to recall. He'll only be there till he's 17 then he's joining us unless he gets picked up by a bigger team.

That is a good result for Jack. He is still a youth A rider technically, so should ask BC for a letter of dispensation to carry on racing in senior races, not just at palace, but elsewhere too...

Great effort tonight Sean, keep coming back and the speed will find you.

Sylv was looking seriously good tonight in the E/1/2 field, always up there. Thoroughly deserved his top 10. Did you hear Cam Austin moaning after that his move 'was a lap up' before the mix up with the 3/4s. Lap up my ass, they weren't even half a lap ahead! I was very confused what was going on in the race tonight when that mix up happened. It was a bit unfair that their break was nulified as a result, but hey ho. When you have that many people racing on such a tight circuit mixups are gonna happen.

The E/1/2 race weren't half fast though! It was pretty much a whose who of Palace racers. I'm not gonna lie, I just didn't have the legs for that sort of speed tonight. It's difficult coming to a 25km crit off the back of several 120km+ road races. Give me a few weeks and i'll find some speed perhaps. I actually took quite a few places with my half assed sprint in the end, and was probably inside the top 15, but that means little in the grand scheme.

Well done to all the others who raced too.

Hey Adam given some of the speeds you've mentioned in recent reports are you sure last night was a bit 'stressful' due to the speed and not simply a case that you haven't recovered "fully" from all your racing recently. Is it time for a recovery week perhaps?

A really good evening at palace in the sunshine. And well done to those who all took part, just keep plugging away and you will find you feet on the circuit and the speed in your legs.

My first venture into the E12 was good, very quick from the off and within a few laps a number of the group were suffering. I hung in there for about five laps and then found myself with a couple of others just starting to loose ground on the group. The gap seemed consistent for a couple of laps but we couldn't close it down. I could see George off the back of the main group and so when he joined our little groupette I know I was in good company. We ended up with 6 of us all working well with one chap making a good break and maintaining it for the last 2 or 3 laps. Great stuff.

It was the constant acelerations that were getting me last night. The only place I felt comfortable was on the hill. Last week was a rest week! It's just the style of racing that I wasn't used to. I'd have quite happily ridden at 50km/h without having to go round the corners, but then it wouldn't have been a crit would it! Basically, I'm a bit of a diesel at the moment!!

Well done to all who raced, good work Sylv and Steve. Well I was in the 3/4ths, a big field of about 90 riders. Given the lack of training I have done I was happy that I managed to stay with the front group until the mix up with the E/1/2's where the bunch broke in half and I was in the second half. We let the E/1/2's through but by then it was too late and the front group had got about 100-200 metres on us. Then a bit of confusion as the E/1/2's were sent down the short cut but not all of them made it and some continued on straight and then slowed down in front of us. Thanks to the E/1/2 rider who shouted for the others to clear the way for us. Then there was a half assed chase with 3 riders from cliffe bar team and one or two others.

Dangerous rider award: to the guy in all black who seemed to move about as if no one else was around and not hold his line in corners, amazing he didn't cause a crash but I think the others learnt to give him room (Mark spotted him as well - so independent confirmation).

Mucho other dodgy riding, too many using the corners to catch up (by riding fast and then braking hard or cutting up the sides) then not able to match the group acceleration out of the corners. Once or twice I thought about quitting the race.

Scary moment award: when just after the U-turn my front wheel got 'stuck' into the grove between the tarmac and the edging slabs so I couldn't steer, only go on in a straight line, and then the guy to the side and slightly in front started to move towards me and our wheels touched.

Lost my temper with one rider near the end and swore at him! It was during the chase to try and catch the front group, I had gone up in front of the cliffe bar guys and another 3/4th rider in (I think ralpha/condor gear) was coming up behind and started shouting at me to stay left. As the group was only one rider wide and he was in the same cat race as me as far as I was concerned if he wished to pass me he had plenty of room to move himself. Another rider also shouted at him that I was on the left anyway. I think he thought he was in the E/1/2 group or that he had lapped me! Well he moved ahead of me and stayed about 20 metres in front of me for the rest of the race. So much for his solo chase.

Still enjoyed it and looking forward to the next race, where ever that will be.

Indeed it was a bit of a shock to the system to go from a series of 2h30-3h races to a 38-minute flat-out effort - within two minutes my legs were screaming. As Adam said the pace was pretty hot from the off, after starting at the back and moving upwards I was trying to be active, but with BB Whenman (who must spend his life on training camps seeing his tan) heading things, being active only meant chasing (some of) his constant attacks, and doing the odd turn at the front when the group got back together.

I am still staggered that we manage to average 41km/h on that course, with that hill, the hairpin, and another 100+ riders to negotiate on the course. And that included 1.5 "confused" laps at 37km/h. You keep wanting for an occasional "easy" run up the climb to recover a bit, but it just never comes. After the break was nullified nothing would stick. With 3 laps to go coming up the climb I was catching up BB and another guy who had gotten a gap but now looked like they needed a rest, so pushed hard and got a gap with a Dynamo, but he hardly did any work. I kept looking back and could see a string of riders coming up to us, but the bunch was still at bay.

Didn't really care about a bunch sprint now, was just trying to stay away but eventually got caught with 2 laps to go. Really wanted to slip back and have a breather before the sprint, but that wasn't really an option now so stayed upfront, was 4th wheel up the climb but was lacking power by the time we reached the top, and lost quite a few places to finish just 8th. Will hope to do better next time.

An amazing result from Jack I agree!

My race was not eventful or very long!

I set off and felt pretty good always inside the top 10 as this seems to be the best place to be as the acceleratiosn are not so hard out of the corners.

The shadow was with me and going good so I decided to sit with him and try to hang on as long as he did. I expected thsi to be about 10 laps max based on last year and what he said before.

Unfortunately 4, maybe 5 laps max into the race my break leaver came loose. I only put the bike back together the night before so I am not too surprised that something worked loose. I really didn't fancy racing round the course with dodgy breaks and decided to pull out.

Steve then carried on to the end and got points I think.

Kieren, Yes that guy was really annoying and would just barge around the place then drop back, then come barging past again - this went on the whole time I was in the front group. There is somethign to be said for being aggresive to gain / keep position but I think he was taking things a little far.

I was quite pleased with last night as I think things have moved on from last year. Maybe I couldnt have lasted till the end but I think that a couple of races in to get up to speed and I should be OK this year.

Well done to all who raced, finished and got points.

Cant wait till next week (will make sure everything is tight)

Adam you've got yourself a half of a second place!?!?!?

Interesting to see how well both Felix English and Hugo Humperys are doing. Felix raced mainly in the 3/4ths at CP last year, winning a few races and Hugo did the junior races but moved up to the 3/4ths at the end of the season and won the last (I think) 3/4th race at CP last year. He won the london youth games 2008 time trial around the CP circuit. I guess he'll make 2nd cat soon enough. Age (or lack of) has it's advantages!

I was beside no 7 Wayne Cromach for most of the race prior to the mix up, what might have been!
