Ras de Cymru 2009: 2,3,4 Welsh Stage Race

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

[quote="Keith"]After my pained expression throughout Sunday's race at Chilham, I don't believe I could currently do much more than "make up the numbers" in these hilly races. I think that's a no from me.
Hey Keith there's still more than 2 months to go. Are you sure you're not being a bit premature. The climbs are possibly more suitable for you since most are not short sharp brutes most are longish feisty buggers. You'll be fine mate i promise :D Michelle Help!!!

Yeah, I 2nd Toks here Keith. The race is aaages away and with longer steadier climbs you'll be right in the mix no trouble. Plus, the very least it will do is make you much stronger for races later in the season.. Win-win :D

Why not do both?

Whats the gap between?

Ride the Jaunts as training and you'll be flying for the Welsh one!

I agree with adam, :) . I recon that as each stage is relatively short 60miles and day 1 of the RAS is only a 4.3mile prologue you effectively get a rest day driving up to wales.

Keep me posted if there is space for me in the ACC squad or how to get into another team, I dont want to travel down without getting to race. If I could only do one it would probably be this rather than the Jaunts.

Basically there is no gap - jaunts ends 30th June and RAS starts 1st July

Hal that event is just the thing for you

I agree Adam, I don't want Sylv to get ideas above his staion. He'll be sending me out for late night trips to shop and complaining that he can't clean his bike without some help

On a more serious note the TT's both individual and Team make a massive difference so we'll be positive and hope not to lose too much time to the out and out tester based teams

OK guys - Time to talk specifics.

As has been observed, the Team Time Trial is of high importance and as you know is a very technical discipline which needs the utmost respect (disbelievers might cynically describe it as a glorified through-and-off but come-on, let's play the game nicely if we're going to play at all)

My suggestion would be to set a date for a couple of sessions on a saturday morning on the Newdigate handicap circuit - that way you can still get your fix of club run socialising by getting a tow down there on your TT bikes.

Favorite alternatives would probably be Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings (to be clear of Palace and handicaps etc)

So as time is running short how are the next 2 weekends looking for everyone???

I can't make this coming weekend but am free the weekend after (Bank Holiday weekend). I'm then away the next two weekends on holiday so would be keen to get at least one session in beforehand.
