[quote="Michelle"]However I saw most of the juniors struggling and out the back. It's pretty tough on youngsters on a course like that.

Tough it is indeed, but they ought not to be going out the back in races like that. All due respect to the riders involved, and I would still take a win in a 2nd cat race... However, they're probably not quite as hard as some of the national junior series. Which they all got their asses kicked in recently too! Jay is a junior too (James Bowtell), he seems to be developing quite decent climbing form though. As you saw last week, Drew can't half sprint. So they'll go well with a bit more experience under their belts. It's cool watching them develop though, having trained with them all winter they really have come on in leaps and bounds.

Maybe tell the riders the tactics

Get guys in the break, make sure one of them wins, keep the bunch together for the sprinter - easy

I am really really happy tonight. I just went in my shed and was checking out a new pair of shoes, as I got on my race bike I thought, this seems a bit strange. Measured the seat post and the post was 3cm too far into the tube. Basically, I had not tightened up the bolt enough since coming back from Majorca, so this explains why I was feeling quite tired in the race and why I didn't win.

Bring on the next race, let me at em.

Cheers

Since you've been riding for a few years now I'm a bit surprised you failled to notice this. This is a terrible school boy error. Perhaps its happened in other races that you should've won. And anyway would'nt you get sore knees if your seat post was too low

I felt very tired trying to climb and on the steep climb I was really struggling, could not get the power down. Yes I should probably have noticed but didn't do any warm up, as I like to warm up on the first lap and once going just thought I was tired after the run I did the day before.

These things happen Toks, I mean I have seen people with cranks falling off, saddles coming undone the works in races, so the seat post moving down a bit is not too much of a problem. At least its fixed now. I was surprised the knees did not hurt as well, but think that maybe the mountain biking I have been doing at a slightly lower saddle height has got me more used to riding at slightly different heights if you know what I mean.

Cheers

Put insulating tape on post to mark position so that next time when the post starts to slip down the tape will be creased highlighting a dropped post.
