Darts Final

Postby Tamar » Sun Apr 26, 2009 11:23 pm

Hot competition tonight for the darts doubles final. In the yellow'n'black corner: me and Joe Wand. In the other corner...and I honestly have no idea which club (how bad is that????) were Alan & Clayton. The arrers were being a bit random for everyone tonight and I was v pleased to have the highest lowest score - a quite respectable 8, compared to the 2, 3, and 5 thrown in quick succession by Alan, Clayton and Joe. On the flip side we also saw quite a lot of 3-figure scores (though not from me) with Joe getting a very splendid 125 and at least two 100s. As ever, Joe was hitting the doubles beautifully so we won the first game. Alan and Clayton took advantage of a momentary lapse in form to win in the second. Joe and I took the third (Joe taking the double of course) and then in the 4th game (finals are played best of five) we thought we'd better pull our fingers out a bit. I set Joe up for a storming double 25 finish (how cool would that have been...winning the final with a bullseye??) but he fluffed it and had to come in with some other random double...tsch! I tried my best....just can't get the team-mates...

Next up was the all-Addiscombe singles final....defending Champion John Smith versus Joe Wand, who had recovered quickly from his strenuous doubles match....but perhaps not quite enough. After a brave battle, Joe won the 3rd game to bring score to 2:1 (to John)....but John's experience eased him through and he bagged the fourth game to retain his title. Many congratulations.

Lots of clapping from the yellow'n'black cheerleading team, led by Snoop & Rob R-E. George stopped by later....missing the darts but cunningly arriving in time for the sandwiches and sausage rolls.

Finally, I'd like to offer very Agreeable congratulations to Joe and Beverley who tie the knot this Friday. Hope you have a wonderful day.

A highly charged night out. I can't add more to Tamar's excellent report. This was a good fun evening for the spectators and a pretty good turn out. We must get better at publicising the arrers generally as they're good fun and extremely agreeable.

Thanks to everyone for making this a fitting end to the season. I spoke with the Lindfield Social's manager after wards and they really like having us along, good to hear so thought I'd pass that on.

Well done to the winners and congrats to Joe and Beverley, yee harrr.

PS - slight downer for me no Guru P last night. Since he moved from the outskirts of the Cronx to the badlands of Horsham it's a mighty long way to come. It was the Guru who first got me into ACC darts and it would've been nice to buy him a J2O. Still, I had a pint on his behalf instead 8) Tidy.

Yes, agree entirely. Maybe we should club together for Guru's taxi fare next time? It was he who introduced me to the Agreeable World of Addiscombe Arrers. I won it for you Guru. ;-)
