Is there anyone out there who can make my printer work!!!! It's brand new and can I get my computer to recognise that the thing is attached? And yes have tested the USB port, turned it on and off and contacted HP website but no luck.

You probably need to uninstall the doodah, reboot the thingymajig, and plug in the widgit. It should all work fine then.

Paper?
INK?
Is the correct printer selected in your printer options?
Have you put £1 in the electric meter?
Have you turned it on?
Is there anything left inside that was for transportation only?
What flavour cake will it be tomorow?

Glad I could help.... no fee

On a serious note.

You would of been supplied with a CD, this has a comprehensive help menu that you can print out and read.

What operating system are you using?

If its XP or Vista on Windows (most likely as opposed to Mac) then it should recognise and sort out the drivers itself. If not then you would probably have to install them from t'internet or disk supplied with the printer.

If this doesn't work and you are certain that its all plugged in OK then maybe its the USB lead, port that you are using, try it in a different hole.

Thanks for all your useful comments!!!!

It's XP service pack 2 (get a load of me eh?) and it doesn't want to talk to my printer!!!! I've done everything that everyone suggests - it's looking like a new printer may need to be brought!!!!

Some printers can generate a test page using the buttons on the printer. That proves that the printer works. You may have an instruction manual on the driver cd that came with the printer.
Did you follow the driver installation procedure exactly? You often have to install the software driver Before plugging in the printers USB lead.

If I have a driver problem I look at device manager in Safe Mode. It sometimes shows up problems that are not apparent in Normal Mode.

Connecting your printer to a different computer is another option.

You can pm me if you want more details.
