Just trying to find a definitive answer to an internal cablke routing conundrum.
Dalkiia carbon TT frames come with over long 'straw' like sheaths loose in just the top tube internal routing passages. They are about 4 cm longer either end and protrude out of the frame. They are small diameter black straw-like sheaths that are loose in the frame when it arrived. And they are very much straw-like - in the sense that they are plastic and kink at any opportunity. And I know from bitter experience already that you can't easily thread the cables through the internal routing passages without using the straws to help as draw throughs
.As the other cable routing compartment for the rear mech doesn't have a straw like sheath (and installing the bare cable through this compartment is easy) it leads me to suspect that the straws are just to help instal the cable only and aren't for permanently installing inside the frame. And I'd need to keep the straws for when changing the cables so I can feeed new ones through easily.
But....I have seen videos on YouTube where some guy has something simiilar and has cut similar straws down and installs them permanently into the frame. Which looks a right old faff on the video!
I have found one post on a time trial forum that says that the straws on the Dalkiia are just to help instll the top tube cables but does anyone have the definitive answer? I don't want to leave them out and find out that they are important to protect the carbon from rubbing or something.
