CR DANGER DANGER DANGER

Postby Marky Mark » Thu May 07, 2009 5:59 pm

After going through Reigate then turning left into the lanes, they (Grrrrrr) have laid a new road surface consisting of nuthing but loose stones all the way past the golf course until you turn right at the T Junction.

Probably about a mile of the crap.

The car tyres are clearing some of it but there is no way we will be able to ride 2 abreast.

Thanks MM. I'm not a huge fan of adding to pre CR announcements but I think it would be great if you could spread the word tomorrow @ CSS before someone spreads themselves all over the grit.

Well spotted dude 8)

They seem to be doing that all over at the moment, it's so stupid! Don't they realise the tarmac has to be heated by the sun to accept the chippings? Otherwise most of them just get cleared away by car traffic before they set in.

They put a load of melted tar on, then the chippings.

Why they can't spend some money actually filling holes rather than surface dressing is beyond me.

A friend of mine has registered a website. On it he plans to put the salary and benefits of the chief honcho in charge of roads at Surrey CC, along with a load of photos of squillions of Surrey's road-holes. Shameful. I will let you know when it's up and running, we can all contribute.

Do you think he gets a company 4x4 to negotiate the local roads?

Oh yes, we can all contribute....the site will be full of holes in no time.

I'm repeating myself here as I've said this before but the council always find enough spare tarmac to make new speed humps everywhere, why not use it to fill some holes.

I have a pair of Fulcrum racing 5 wheels sat here, the rear one ruined by pot holes so I'm putting in a claim for them.

I've even been tempted to fill some of the really bad ones that are on the CR myself.
I thought we were mad for knowing where all the potholes are, not suprising concidering we shout a warning of 'HOLE' 52 times a year for the same bloody hole.

And yes it did slow me down on my sub-sonic CR

Went straight into a pot hole at 30mph plus, pulled the bars to get the front wheel over, back just dropped staight in it, was to slow in my reactions to bunny hop it. Took it in to Pearsons but was beyond safe repair, they said they can true it but it'll never be the same again as the rim was dented where I slammed the edge of the hole.

Westbound A25 from Dorking has been similarly treated. 10 mph signs everywhere which drivers ignore so it's like riding on a dirt track while being shot at.
