Redhill club evening TT

Postby George » Thu May 07, 2009 8:56 am

Serge and I took a trip down to the Nechapel/horne handicap circuit last night for the first of Redhills evening TT's.

They had around 25 starters which was good for a club event and were a little unsure at first if we'd get a ride being from another club.

The course consited of 3 laps of the 3 mile handicap route, fairly flat and quite quick, a lot less daunting for novices to ride than on the Holmwood 10 DC.

Ben Instone and Marcus B Mulberry were also in attendance.

Serge was off just before me and I managed to pass him on the second lap, its a nice circuit with all left turns and a fairly good surface.

Serge 22.49
Ben Instone 20.06
George 20.16
Marcus B 20.54
Another course record for Ben to add to his tally.

Thankyou to the redhill CC for a great evening TT :D

Hey that's a really good time George. I was chatting to Ben on Tuesday as he raced at Dunsfold. He said he was going to the Nationals in 2 weeks. Maybe you should have a crack at it? Whaddya reckon.

Well done all others too, was a windy one yesterday.

Too late to enter the Nationals now Michelle.

Hutch will be the hot favourite again, although Dangerfield (Stuart not Rodney) could be a dark horse for an e/w bet. Ben might get on the podium though, but there are a couple of other fast ones like Alex Dowsett lining up for it.

George,

For the record I did 20:48 which I was happy with considering the wind. Whilst it was good that we were both close to Big Ben, I think he would have blown us into touch if he was actually trying or had his full aero kit. He told me for 3 laps he did 7:04, 7:02, 6:00!!! He was just checking things out on his first lap and if he can do a 6 min lap at the end then an 18min time is on the cards!

Like you said it was a shame that you hadn't started before him so you could have held the new course record briefly ; - )
Redhill v rarely get anyone below 21mins in that event, so to get 3 below 21 in their first round was quite a surprise for them.

Good luck in the TT at the weekend.
