The 2009 ACC Members Only Road Race

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Just out of interest is there a date or circuit proposed for this year?

Not yet.

I will organise it again in September....on the Newchapel circuit - as it seemed to go well last year.

What experience? Seriously, is the B race only for non licence holders? I don't stand a cat in hell's chance in the 'A' race :shock:

Yep Sean's a B race runner, he was like me this time last year, very little race experience and had just started moving up the groups on the club run.

No offence Sean but you'll be spat right out of the back before a laps done esp if Marek and Paul H go from the gun and attack.

Will be an interesting race should Marky Mark enter....you 2 head to head at last. :D

Guess its the A race for me this year, will be a challenge. :D

I'm looking forward to it :twisted: 8)

Well done mate, don't be resting on your laurels once you've returned from Italy. I'm expecting you to be competitive in the B race. Not sitting in just for the ride :wink: :D

It'll be one heck of a challenge if you don't get racing (knee permitting of course). When are you next pinning a number on your back mate?

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]Toks,

I'll certainly be up for it assuming my level doesn't tail off too much. After all In a single week I'll do about a months cycling and all quality miles. what I am afraid of though is doing too many long rides as this might at such a late stage blunt whatever form I have come the 24th. Whatcha think? Do lots of easy miles, but nothing too hard?

Sean
I think the key thing is recovery - listening to your body. Too many slow easy miles will loose you form. Too many hard fast rides that you can't recover from will loose you form. Personally I'd have the one steady longish ride per week and keep up at least a couple of shorter faster rides - even if you've got to reduce them to just 60 minutes. Its all a balancing act I'm afraid. Everyone is unique so its down to what works for you :D

Looking to getting down to do some handicap races during the week then see how I feel for some weekend races.

I'm ok even if I don't ride a lot, esp on the Newchapel circuit, I seem to be able to not ride a huge amount but still go well but I'd like to get some form and hopefully be in there with a shout at the end.

Oops my bad :oops: I didn't read what you wrote properly. Treat it as a mini training camp if you like. Ride as much as you want and if you get tired have a few days off the bike when you return. Let the pace be dictated by how you feel on any given day :D :D
