Something for the weekend Pt.1 - Alternate CR 16/5

Postby Andrew G » Mon May 11, 2009 7:45 pm

Weather permitting I'll do an alternate route this Saturday (16th).

Start: CSS as per normal.
Route out: Merstham, Bletchingley, Outwood, Horne, Lingfield, Four Elms, Westerham.
Cafe stop in Westerham after approx 45 miles.
Route back: Towards Botley Hill then along Pilgrims Way, Star Hill, Knockholt, Cudham, Biggin Hill, Tatsfield.
Options back from here, and indeed earlier bail points if required just shout and I'll point you at one, but I'll head back down Featherbed Lane towards Gravel Hill - you could just main road it back or follow me and then head back via Selsdon/Gravel Hill/Spout Hill/Bromley. All depends where you live really  .
Distance: Rough guess 65 - 70 miles depending on finishing route and where you live. You could cut it as short as 55 if heading directly back from the cafe stop.
Speed:Reasonable :D . The route's lumpier than the normal CR but say folk normally in the 19s. I'm happy to drop it a little bit though depending on takers, i.e. only stronger 18s people interested.

Weather forecasts are normally fairly unreliable this early in the week so I'll just update this post if it's going to be raining.

Current weather says maybe the odd shower. I should be at CSS unless it's raining too hard when I'd have to leave home.

Of course judging by the popularity of this route suggestion I could be on my tod anyway  .
