UCI at it again and saying the 3:1 rule will be in force from 1st July.

The rule has been there but just about everyone has taken it as being the frame, and possibly stretching to the "module". They are now saying they are going to enforce it on equipment too so a lot of the current TT base bars will be illegal. I can understand some level of standardisation on frames to avoid anything too way out and spoiling the "bike look", but to impose it across the board on everything, like cranks, is madness. 4) Of course, 99% of our customers will prefer to continue to use the current seatpost, as it is the fastest possible seatpost and they never compete in UCI events anyway. (All triathlons and most time trials do not follow the UCI rules.)

At the time of this meeting, the UCI decided that, for competitions, contentious handlebars would have to be replaced by compliant handlebars by 1 July 2009. For all other bicycle components, in particular the seat post, the deadline for compliance of equipment was set as 1 January 2010.

Once these deadlines have elapsed, UCI International Commissaires will not compromise on the application of the regulations."


Should make for some interesting commentary during the Tour de France…

Does anyone know the phone number for Saxo Bank as I quite fancy some of their 3T Ventus bars at a knock down price :D .
