Knee pain

Postby Marky Mark » Tue May 19, 2009 2:26 pm

:(

I have been struck down with knee pain in my right knee.

Had niggles in the left one for ages but this does not effect my riding in any way.

The right one has just started hurting like a bitch, not too bad standing on it, going down stair is really painfull.

I've got Brighton this weekend and my TT the following one.. H.E.L.P because there is no way I'm missing either of them.
Pain killers and rest is the only thing that comes to mind, any other advice will be truly welcomed.

Marky Mark :(

First try to identify why it started hurting so suddenly. Have you done anything different in recent days which might have cause it? Increased mileage/intensity - different position etc?

Could it be a side effect of the seatpost incident?

Mileage has actually gone down over the last week with the weather and mechanicals, intensity is fairly level and easy. Bike position is still the same.

Bloody golf on Sunday, first time I played this year, carrying the bag on a hilly course (and messing around)

I have just tried to book an Osteopath/physiotherapy up at Warlingham Green.
I will have to pay for it as I can't get in to see a doctor.... fingers crossed

Probably just a one-off injury from not being used to the heavy bag/hilly walk then. Hopefully nothing that a couple of days off won't cure. Fingers crossed

Should I put a knee warmer on to give it support or leave it El'natural?

R.I.C.E is a good place to start

Rest Ice Compression Elevation

So yeah - stick something tight on it, get the frozen peas out, keep it up and supported when sitting down and try to stay off it for a bit

Egg fried

Right... cheers for the advice on rice Huw. My knee warmer is now being used as a support stocking now and I'm going to rest it as much as is humanly possible. Is beer good for it?

Thinking back now i'm sure it's the Golf that done it.

Getting it looked at today.
Got my doctors at 09.40, don't hold out much hope for a GP to sort it.
Then 12.30 sports injury clinic at Warlingham Green.
Fingers crossed folks.
