don't bother with insurance
the money you save will easily pay for new bikes over a few years
chances are your bike wont be stolen anyway
be paranoid about your bike security
spend money on decent locks and security
don't leave your bike in a vulnerable position
learn from mistakes
wear sunscreen

M&S is £4000 for any item, with an unlimited total. I have just renewed mine again.

See me earlier post. Good bike with CTC and get very comprehensive cover. Otherwise a bit of what George says, weigh up the value against the risk (it's what insurers do). If it's below £1,000 then it should be covered under a home and contents policy either as a bike (may have to increase limit but cost should be negligible) or if the only time it leaves the house it has you on it then go the "big object" route.
