Club Dinner - Have Your Say

Postby Snoop Doug » Mon Jun 01, 2009 10:23 am

Folks

As usual we will be having our club dinner in January to celebrate what is already looking like another fantastic year.

Two years ago we moved the dinner venue to Selsdon Park Hotel for a change which proved popular with all our guests. There were a couple of issues at
last year's event which didn't go 100% to plan and there's the option of moving again just to keep things fresh. So your committee would like to offer you a choice of venues for the January 2010 dinner.

1 - Selsdon Park Hotel http://www.principal-hayley.com/venues-and-hotels/selsdon-park

2 - Wotton House http://www.principal-hayley.com/venues-and-hotels/wotton-house

We intend to keep the ticket price the same as the previous two years, £30 per head. We have negotiated a rate of £70 per room for 2 B&B at the Wotton
House and this includes use of the leisure facilities.

We need to make a final decision at the committee meeting next Monday June 6th so if you wish to express a view please reply to this thread before then. This message will also go out via hotmail to ensure as wide a consultation as possible.

As they say 'A change is as good as a rest'
I did vote for the Dorking one just because I've never been there before and it looks like a nice place to stop over.
If I can go it's Selsdon for me as Dorking is too far away unless I can get a lift etc.....

A mass mini bus can't cost that much. Cheaper to drive down, get rangooned, sleep over, then drive home, sorted.

It will be my first club dinner, so I am easy either way. Wotton House is nice as the company I work for often use it for its meeting facilities.

Undecided. I like the idea of Wotton but, like Sean, I'd need a lift out - and let's just say, I'd like a room-mate to stay overnight. (A room-mate of my choice, I hasten to add...)

If you take a guest thats £60 for tickets £70 for the room, plus drinks, turns out to be an expensive evening, so it's Selsdon for me.

OK - to nip this in the bud....primarily we had a few complaints that pud wasn't up to scratch and also we had to pay for coffee on the night, rather a lot of money (for 100 cups of coffee at least). Nothing too major hope that answers the query :)

I've been to both for work conferences, and Wotton House had the edge in my view.

But it's a bit of a trek (geddit?) for most people and I think you might struggle to shift the tickets. It shouldn't be too hard to sort out the Selsdon Park 'issues', even if only by making it clear that coffee is not included.

It seems that WH is the nicer venue (not seen it meself). It's a long way out tho and that's a valid concern. Others have suggested this and I wonder if we could sort a coach to do a central cronx pick up and drop off maybe? I agree the SPH issues are fixable.

Keep it coming folks, useful feedback.
