So that didn't go so well!
Am I allowed to get excuses in first? Had a bad knee since the weekend but it didn't seem to be causing me too much trouble on the bike and my ride to work this morning, so thought I'd have a go at palace. No idea what caused it. Cara reckons it was my bad inline skating at the weekend but I'm not convinced.
I'd really set my heart of having a go at palace this year and haven't tried yet so decide to have a go.
good showing of agreeables. off for a quick test lap ok and lined up. 1s and 2's off, then the rest of us.
hmm, seem to be sliding backwards on the corners. but pull back a bit on the straight. and again slide backwards on the climb.
right one lap down.... second lap here we come. know where I'm going now so try and take a better line on the corners... only to get pushed really wide on the bottom turn. phew that was close. just keep it on the track. back up the climb slide backwards again. and now my knee is really aching. ok up to the line and I'm now at the back. hmmm ok that's enough. I think I'll call it a day. roll off and do a bit of stretching.
A bit disheartened, but think I've got a few things to take from this. 1. probably not a good idea to start if not feeling 100%. 2. I'm crap at the corners and lost a lot of time there. 3. that climb is steeper than it looks.
Knee still aching. Hope it gets better for the reigate sportive this weekend.
