Camping/Cycling In France

Postby Dan_K » Mon Jun 15, 2009 3:05 pm

Afternoon folks,

I'm planning a camping trip with the family to France in August and we've settled on this resort as there should be plenty to please everyone:

It's on Lac D'Orient near Troyes in the Champagne-Ardenne region. I wanted to know if anyone has been to the area and has any recommendations on outings? My kids are 8 (girl) and 2 (boy).

Also, I want to know whether to take my mountain bike or road bike. I'd prefer to take my road bike as I enjoy road riding more and I get plenty of off road practice at my in-laws in the Peak District. Am I ok to assume there's plenty of road riding in this region?

Dan, in my experience of riding in France there is always good roads and the French are a bike friendly nation. Looking at that link to your campsite there seems to be enough trails to keep you and the family busy. So for that I would say the mountain bike. Find out if they hire out mountain bikes and then you could take your road bike and then all parties are happy.
