Night ride to Brighton - Friday 3rd July

Anyone interested? Was good fun last year, even with the rain Paul, Dominic, Ivor, and I had good fun.

I fancy doing it again (unless it's due to pour with rain all night) and this is a good day/night for me. I've got a 25 on the Sunday and what with it being dark at night I intend on it being a steady ride down just enjoying riding through the night.

If any takers know a reasonable main road route down then I'm happy to follow their lead, otherwise I'm thinking probably A23, A24 to Broadbridge Heath, A281 all the way to just outside Brighton and pick up the A23 again. Main roads for simplicity and safety, difficult to navigate through the lanes in pitch black and also the obvious problems of not seeing potholes/cracks etc as early. Traffic won't be a problem for equally obvious reasons. The return route can be more interesting and perhaps climb over Ditchling from the other side. Again due to racing Sunday I won't be going mad pacewise but don't mind if others want to wind it up.

You will need good lights (not just normal commuter ones as they won't light up much more than your front tyre on any unlit roads) and suitable clothes to cover night/morning temperature changes. I'll be riding my commuting bike with dynamo light and a rack top box.

Meet at 1am at CSS

With a bit of luck we can catch daybreak either on the coast itself or at the top of Ditchling.

Fingers crossed for some nice weather as it was the only thing missing from last year's trip - here.

Aah Mr  you are a superstar :D

I am interested in this. I had a 100 mile ride planned for the 04/07. This would be much better. Count me in.

I've got no plans for that weekend, so it would be rude not to.

I agree Ivor but I couldn't find that route in the dark, we had PVT and his internal sat-nav last time. If Paul can make it then we can do that (or another of his million routes) again or like I say if someone else can navigate those roads at night then good, the beacon was fun at night. Otherwise the one I put would be easier to find where we go.

Snoop we averaged 17mph on both the out and back legs last time.

I reckon I can navigate a fairly decent route via back of Merstham, Copthorne, Rowfant, West Hoathly, yada yada Lindfield, H Heath...Ditchling. I think I can....could be a larf in the dark mind you
