ACC evening 10, 23rd June (2-up TTT)

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Are there any; [quote="Jon Hemming"]
Billy no-mates solo riders can tag on at the end if there's places available.

As i am a total newbie, and would like to try a TT.

I dont know anyone so would be a billy no-mates but i can deal with that, i went out on the offroad club run this W/E and Marco said i should check this event out.

Dont know how i'd perform but i'd like to have a go.

Few newbie Q's;

Do i have to pay to enter?
Is the course marked/obvious? (visions of me going off for a ranfom journey!)
Do i need anything specifically?
Am i welcome?!

Yes, £3 I think.
Probably marked, hopefully a marshal at the turn but basically cycle up the A24 over the first RAB (2nd exit staying on the dual carriageway), turn at the second one and then retrace back towards the start passing the chequered flag.
Yourself and a bike.
Yes of course :D .

There are a few gaps as:
1) I don't know a few surnames
2) I'm not sure if "Team Rob" are ACC 1st claim or not
3) I don't know what category some teams are riding in
4) I've left a gap before the 3-up

I've also taken the liberty of pairing off Rob & Carole; if that's not to your liking then you can still shuffle round as you see fit tomorrow.

Don't be, just turn up early, get your number pinned on your back, be nice and warmed up, have a giggle at the start line then off you go. Just don't go to mad on the way out to the turn point, save a bit and if you've anything left in the tank start pushing a bit harder on the way to the finish. Just enjoy it, thats what these evenings are aimed at achieving, its not serious therefore ideal for a first timer like yourself. Just have fun. :D

Looks like a crowded night, great.

Keith, the start is in Spook Hill North Holmwood but I don't know the post code. There's a car park at the top of Inholms Lane (left at the church) we use and the results are given out at.

You only need 3rd party insurance so you're covered with CTC membership.

Actually, every rider must be a member of a club which is affiliated to Cycling Time Trials.
CTC membership is a bit of an odd one, as some local CTC groups affiliate but the CTC as a whole does not. However, when you join CTC you join the national organisation not a local group. I rode my first club events and first couple of open events as a member of a CTC group which was directly affiliated to the RTTC (as it was then). Keith has been posting on here for over a year, so I'd assumed he was a ACC member.
