Tour de France starts TOMORROW!

Postby Michelle » Fri Jul 03, 2009 10:18 am

Yeeehaaaaaa!!!!!!

I know you don't need telling, but I've been on countdown for such a long time now.

The coffee table is covered in Official Tour Issue Magazines, Tour Routes, Maps, Books (including a great one from Huw called The Official Treasures of the T de F).

Bring it on :D

Hmmm, not appropriate at the minute given my last reaction to air travel when we went to Mallorca. Though maybe next year!

However I may be dropping hints about two tellies in the living room, so I can watch Eurosport and ITV at the same time. And of course a new laptop for the internet streaming (in Dutch- such a great language to listen too) 8)
Interesting how even in the smallest detials LA has to be different to Alberto. Check out the levers and see how much bigger the SRAM is on LA's bike.

Or perhaps Alberto's the one being different?...

.. or perhaps some people are obsessed with trying to judge LA with assumptions they make about distant events?

Whatever your take on the levers it's going to be interesting watching Bruyneel trying to sort out who is the leader in Astana. Intruiging stuff.

National Champs and World Champs can wear bands around the ends of the sleeves in subsequent years when they no longer hold the jersey. You can only wear them for the event you won though so Cancellara has them in a TT but not on the orad stages.

I happened to pick this up from the library last week:

It's an accessible, well written book on Johan Bruyneel - the tactician behind the teams behind Lance's and Contador's Tour wins.
“It’s bad because of Johan Bruyneel, because he hasn’t known how to manage the team. He’s lost control of the relationship between Alberto and Lance and with the rest of the riders…

Reading the book, even if Bruyneel has appeared to have lost control, he may well find some way of turning it to the team's advantage..... This guy doesn't like losing.
... why he was supposedly nicknamed The Hog ...?

Nope, no mention of it.

Just finished the book. Definitely worth a read.
