Legal Advice

Postby Rob Q » Fri Jul 10, 2009 8:28 pm

I Hope someone is able to help with some advice. I had window cleaner come round to my house today after my wife got their number off a pamphlet that was posted through our door. When I got home this evening I noticed a hole (foot size) in the flat roof by the back window he had cleaned. This is definitely been done today as a hole like that would have let water in our kitchen below after the torrential rain we have had over the last few days. On the pamphlet it stated they were fully insured and when I contacted him about this he is suprise surprise denying that he did it and states that it was already there. I queried why he didn’t tell us there was a hole there and he said he thought I already knew about it. He would not give me the details of his insurance and claims that I am trying to pull a fast one to get him to pay for it. When I said that I needed to get all his details so I could get legal advice he refused and put the phone down.

Any advice on what my next step should be would be much appreciated. I now have a damaged roof above my kitchen that could cause more damage in the kitchen with more rain expected.

Cheers Rob

Have a word with your buildings insurers.

Put a bucket under the hole.

If he put the phone down on you it probably means he's not insured
Report him to trading standards, they will chase him for his insurance
