[quote="-Adam-"]And who says the Giro is a better race?

Absolute bo!!ocks! We're only on stage 4 and already this Tour is wiping the floor with the Giro...

Yep and another great stage again today, this tour could go down as one of the classics, just what the sport needs.

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]You know it is a bit of both.

Well, yes, and no. The hardest course in the world will usually mean the riders take it easy, the courses that look easy on paper are always the hardest. Like my Jock Wadley Memorial experience, waaaaay back at the beginning of March.

Any thoughts on how Lance is going to take the lead?

It seems like he was aiming to use the TTT to move into yellow but that didn't quite work... I can't see him winning the ITT unless he takes it easy and the other ITT contenders are whacked by the final week of the race. And I'd be surprised to see him do anything spectacular in the mountains...

Hmmm interesting!

Is it just me, or were Paul and Phil even more fawning than usual this afternoon? And for no obvious reason, given that the 70km descent to the finish meant that the GC contenders were unlikely to do much.

Glad to say my colleagues are again showing interest in le Tour. These are fantasy footballists, rugger fans, Ashes enthusiasts, yachties, shooters, tennisists and squashers. All asking me, can Armstrong win it? When will he strike? Can he beat Contador in the Alps or will it be a duel up Ventoux, velo a velo?
LA does nothing for the sport?
I don't think so.

Believing something is a lie doesn't make it one.
The fact that he's never tested positive is good enough for me. Innocent til proven guilty and all that; old fashioned, I know, but far, far better than the alternative.

*Sighs* Don't you get it yet, Dombo, "Never tested positive" is VERY different from never cheated.

Once again. David Millar never tested positive for EPO, niether did Riis, or Pantani, or dozens of others who abused "medical substances" in the late 90s/ early 00s.

I'm sorry that I don't buy the miracle, and perhaps I'm just too cynical. But the guy just doesn't act like a team player or other good role model. In fact, as time goes on, he's starting to look more and more like a spoiled bully - witness the interview after Contador had "dared" to take some seconds out of him, compared to the interview after he'd taken advantage of (and some would say driven) the wind assisted break earlier in the week.

Thank you for the semantics lesson. I know that "never tested positive" means just that. But if there is a due process to be followed with a result at the end then that result should be respected.

As for being a team player or good role model, I think you'd agree we're scraping the barrel here for something to pin on him. Perhaps that could be a new test. Or maybe a test for use of ungrammatical French in media interviews. ASO would love that one. And as for being a spoiled bully, well diddums. I'm not looking to make him my new best mate.

It is a pity that during one of the most exciting Tours in years there are still those who choose not to enjoy it but to poke around in the dustbins looking for used syringes. Each to their own.

I never said I didn't enjoy watching it. Even in the doping (peak) years I enjoyed the spectacle of a grand tour. It's just my experiences (expert XC mountainbike racing in the early 90s) and what I have seen and read make me somewhat cynical about miracles.

No barrels being scraped either, I just think we are seeing the true colours of the man coming into his sport as well as the 2 failed marriages and other failed relationships and all the exes making similar allegations.
