Are Columbia backing LA?

Postby mlocke » Thu Jul 16, 2009 10:03 pm

Thought this the other day - LA has some strong allies in his team (most importanlty the boss) but also a couple of oher teams.

One I was thinking of was THC as it does contain his old bud George. Deals are done in the peleton all the time - LA & co helped THC in the windy break a few days ago will they return the favour to Lance in the mountains?

Interestingly this is on LA twitter account on the rest day:

[quote]Just finished an hour and a half with the boys. Rode w/ the Columbia guys too. Great to catch up with my boy @ghincapie. Miss that guy.

Can contador beat LA, the Astana team & THC (along with anyone else LA may have lined up??)

:)

what do Columbia get in return? I cna't picture the Astana guys making a good sprinters train, and it would be too blatant. That split on the windy stage helped LA just as much put one over AC.

Help with closing down breaks, so they can then save energy for setting up the train rather than the prolonged chase/effort of controlling the peloton for an entire stage.

Well Astana are going to need a bit more help to run their parallel teams now:

Are you saying that cycling's Tim Henman sent something out to cause the crash?

Now, I don't know Bradley, but I suspect he wouldn't want to be moving up the rankings in this way.

Wiggins is doing very well but I think he'll struggle in the Alps to stay with the other riders. He said the other day he's kept the same power he had to win the Olympic pursuit but has lost a lot of weight so his power to weight is much better.

...and he's had his Weetabix, according to his mini-interview the other day. Which proves that if you want to go fast up hills Weetabix is better than Bran Flakes (which is what fat boy Hoy eats if you believe the advert).
