That was really, really, really windy out there.

On the way out to the first turn the pedals were turning easily, I didn't let this fool me though as I knew it was a tailwind. Round the turn and the wind hit, not too bad on the way back to Bewbush RAB and the climb to Tollgate wasn't too bad either.

Back down to Bewbush and heading back towards Broadbridge and it was horrible. There was a very strong head-cross wind on my left shoulder constantly trying to shove me backwards and it was an effort just to keep the speed constantly at 20-21mph for long stretches.

Left to head up to Southwater and oh joy still a really strong head-cross wind, just now on my right shoulder but still trying to shove you backwards. Blimey this was hard work. I tried to push on, to try and get it over with as much as anything else, and gurned in to the wind.

Over the finish line and thank God that's over, I can go and have my tea and cake now.

Back at HQ and I'd done a 1.03.55 which was okay as that was one of the hardest TTs I've done, the wind was a killer, and I'd have had a decent time in normal conditions. Hey-ho a good resistance work out.

Addiscombe:
Mark McLaughlin DNS? Didn't see a time up for you but nothing else was marked against your name.
Robert Royle-Evatt 1.02.51
Ivor Hewitt 1.07.33
Andrew Green 1.03.55

A tough day for everyone. Out of a full field (120 riders) only about a dozen or so got under the hour and most of them were 57-59 minute times. Steve Dennis doesn't count as normal though and somehow managed to do a 51 something! He was about 4 minutes clear of everyone else last I saw of the results board but there were still 3 or 4 fast guys to finish.
