SW London Massive, who ya gonna call?

Postby Snoop Doug » Thu Jul 23, 2009 11:09 am

Someone has contaced me on facebook with this question...

Hi,

Could you advise or suggest a website that I can refer to in order to find, cycling routes? I live in SW London the congestion and the traffic lights makes training impossible, I used to cycle many years ago when I was in Greece, now i want to ride just for fun, but I don't really enjoy it as its too busy and car drivers do not pay enough attention to cyclists,

Any ideas folks - I suggested maybe richmond park? Surely we have people with more local nollij who can assist? Answers on a postcard.

Cheers - Snoop

Yeah Richmond Park is a starting point...

Might be worth posting a question on Bike Radar as there are a few RP riders on there (including those who participate in the now legendary 3-lap challenge).

Dynamo ride around the park quite a bit. Could get in touch with them?

Also the Bike Park shop used to - and maybe still do - have a regular Saturday morning ride that even has speed groupings (so following the lead of the world's biggest cycling club  ).

Sigma Sport in Kingston do rides from their shops (I think they're on Wednesday evenings).

At the weekend you see occasional groups of riders heading out from Kingston towards the Surrey hills. There's a coffee shop on the road out of Kingston by the river where they sometimes congregate although I can't remember the name of it...

Better still, send them round my way and I'll ride out with them to the best club run in the area. I'm not out this weekend, but am planning to be on the 1 August CR.
