Membership Cards

Postby Dan_K » Fri Jul 24, 2009 1:49 pm

So, popped down to GB's at lunchtime (conveniently a 5 minute walk from work) to buy some gloves (no not those white ones from Grahame's post!)

Asked for and got the ACC discount but got politely reminded that I should have my membership card on me.

ACC membership card??!! Didn't know we got them! Where does one collect these holy grail of cards from?

Since I only joined in April, is it the case that I haven't been a member long enough?

Is there some sort of ritual or test that I have to endure before I can get one? (That would explain Sean's choice of white clothing  )

Oh, and what's the credit limit??!!

Possibly mate, depends on how my other half is. Everyone indoors has been ill this week!
If i'm not out on the CR tommorow, i'll probably go out on Sunday. PM me your mobile and if i'm not out tomorrow, we'll sort a ride at some point and have a catch up. Didn't get a chance to say bye last week as I decided to go for it on the way back from Redhill!

Saw you did well at the TT the other night. Was gutted to miss it. Still there's always the next one....

Got asked for mine last time I was in GB's, still managd to blag my discount though.

Come on admin, pull your finger out and get them sent out, we've paid our subs in full so play ball and get those membership cards sent out, you've had more 6 months to get mine to me, surely thats long enough.

Well, I sat up nights (literally) hand making the last batch of membership cards and when they they were done, generous and helpful members (from Admin if you want to put a name to them) carried them down to the cafe at Charlwood in large heavy envelopes to distribute them. Another option was that they were collectable from GBs. Forum posts were made with these details yet there was less than 60% take-up, which is ridiculous given that GB's and other shops offer reasonable discount to card-carrying members.

So. Do you want membership cards this year? I'll spend hours making them if you can be bothered to pick them up

Well I collected mine last time from the cafe.

If certain people can't be bothered then I don't see that as mine or anyone else's fault but their own. I would like my membership card as I'm a fully paid up member and like to take advantage of the discounts I can get at both GB's and Pearsons. Why should people like me lose out. If your not going to bother with membership cards then say so and scrap them, don't just leave people in the dark. If its so much hassle to do them all why can't they be done on a request basis. If you want one, send in a request and hey presto Huw and his magic press jump into action.

Enough moaning gets done when people are late paying their subs so its the turn of the people that have paid up to moan at you guys for being late. :D

Hands up - I think we need to do much better at this. I don't see much point in doing an 09 card now unless it is preventing people getting discounts etc. I did suggest that the committee should meet up early November and do a mass mail out of cards to paid up members. I can't make the next mtg but I will ping over a note and hopefully we can get this tied up and much slicker in the future.

Thanks for raising the matter, much appreciated

Hi all,

Membership cards are on the way, they are currently in the process of being printed.

We are having a large quantity printed (1000+) so that we dont need to do a print run again for a while.

I won't issue new cards for this year as the ACC year ends 31/10 only 3 months left!

New cards will be mailed out from 1/11 as soon as we have received your subs payment.

If anyone needs one in the mean time PM me and I'll send one for the remainder of the year as soon as I get them back from the printers.

I hope that this clarifies things.

Phil.

simple, just get a BC racing licence, it'll state your club on it. But better still join LCC and you'll get 10% in lots of london bike shops.

Antloony, was that a declaration of volunteering to help?

Excellent, just come along to the next AGM, stick your hand up at the right time, and you'll be up for election to the committe, then you can do all you like to help ease the administrative burden.

Good idea Grahame, I might just do that then when I get given the task of helping out with the 'administrive burden' I'll just pass it on to my other half who'll sort it out in no time for me while I take all the glory :D

If I did did it we'd end up in an even bigger mess...
