Hills

Postby Dan_K » Wed Jul 29, 2009 8:40 am

I'm looking to do some hill intervals but can't seem to find any decent hills around Croydon.
I don't really want to go any further than about 4-5 miles from where I live at Park Hill cos my evening time is limited and i'd want to do a 15-20 mile round trip.

I've tried Croham Road, Shirley Hills Road, Ballards way but the gradients aren't that steep.
Any ideas?

If it's short and steep you want : Winchelsey Rise (off Croham Manor Rd)

Chalkpit Hill, takes between 8 to 10 minutes to climb and is only 20% at the top :D

Marco, what's that hill near croydon with the nice grassy roundabout on top near a church? I have been dropped off their a few times and there's a lovely downhill back home.

Yeah, cheers all. There goes my afternoon at work. Productivity down, internet activity up...

Not about on the weekend Alboy, doing a Brighton ride with a couple of mates, hence the training for Ditchling! Not gonna be on the club run for a little while actually as i'm off to France on hols in a couple of weeks. will try to sort out a Sunday/evening ride though.

Loads of nasty hills on the Huw's Hills route in the Routes section. Further afield than the original question but lots of real nasty ones in that area and you're never far from Croydon. Nicer to do different hills on a loop than reps on one hill too.

Try Succombes Hill up from Wapses Lodge roundabout on the A24. 25% with a nice little Pyrennean-style left-hander near the top.
