15/16 August Wales trip anyone?

Postby Marek » Mon Aug 03, 2009 8:55 pm

I have a free weekend on the 15/16 August and I wanted to organise a weekend riding in Wales. I want to do the Dragon ride route on Saturday, followed by something else on the Sunday. May even do the Dragon ride in reverse if I cannot find anything better in the region for the Sunday.

What I am asking is:

1. Does anyone want to join me? Intend to ride at a reasonably quickish sportive type pace. Am planning to drive down Friday night after work and then stay over till Sunday evening.
2. Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay in the region of the Dragon ride traditional starting point, not too bothered about quality etc as am not taking the misses, but a pub nearby or restaurant is a must.
3. Does anyone have any links to decent routes in the area that I can print off.

Cheers

Marek.....

When I did the dragon a couple of years ago I took the magic watch so the info is here. I think you should be able to put the map in to Googlemaps from it (click larger map), don't know if it'll be any use/printable though I'm afraid.

What about doing the Tour of the Black Mountains route?

Much nicer in my opinion. In fact if you did that route, I might come (if I had any money spare...)

This has now turned into a Saturday Jaunt. So if anybody that is reasonably quick fancies joining me in the car to drive down to Wales and do the Tour of the Black Mountains route then let me know. Will return same day. Need to be of quite a high standard of riding as a couple of the riders that are coming along are pretty darn quick.

Cheers
