[quote="Snoop Doug"]I would defo do this again if I could persuade a few folk to go a little slower and just take it all in, every little bit. Maybe we could have two groups in 2010.

what? we're waiting till 2010 to do it again? tsch.
Two groups sounds like a good idea, perhaps even a road group and a MTB group? off road in the dark's just got to be fun?

Me too, I do wonder why you bothered with lights though as the Guru's shorts would've litup the road ahead surely ;-)

There is small group of us that are now in therapy bacause of being exposed to sight that was the rear end of the Guru.

I will be doing that ride again, might even have a beer next time.

That was a free day/weekend for me which was why I did it, so no can do for another during the season - got a 50 on the Sunday of the weekend mentioned.

I can't remember if I thanked Paul for his navigation but thanks Paul, and also for the breakie offer but I had to get back and get my shoe off. Manky foot update is the cut under my little toe has got infected and I've been given antibiotics, so no Inter-club TT or Beastway for me this week. A shame as I love both events but my two remaining big things this year are the SCCU 100 and ECCA 12hr so I need to be fit for them.

Back on topic a bit, the number of people who said yes and then turned up surprised me for this, and with a group of 12 I think it was amazing that we kept together as much as we did. I think those who've not ridden lanes at night realised what I meant when I was commenting on good lights once we hit the unlit narrow stuff. If weather looks good and/or there are enough takers then I think 2 groups would work better as 6-8 is probably a better suited max number for a night ride to avoid any splits/waits/regroups through missed turns etc.

Thanks Andrew for organising and Paul for the entertaining route :? and the rest of the guys for the good company - a thoroughly ejoyable evening even if I was dropping off the back on the climbs towards the end of the ride.

I'd certainly be up for a repeat in August and might even join Marky Mark in a performance enhancing pint of Stella on the seafront :P

6th August is a full moon, so 8th would be a sensible date (still plenty of moonlight but no werewolves)

A great evening indeed and thanks to Paul for the route work and Andrew for organising things.

A good workout (my description of the route down was "undulating ", Andrew preferred "flippin hilly"). In the dark I wasn't sure if my legs had just died or whether we had started ascending (again).

Different to say the least and good to learn a new route home via Shoreham aerodrome etc.

Thankfully the weather gods were smiling on us. I must confess i would not have made it had the forecast not been good!

Thanks to all.

Thanks Andrew for arranging this.

Thanks for your comments, particularly on the route, with a slight realignment around Handcross, but things do look different in the pitch black. Taking a new route back from Ahurst was much better than previous, with no main road until Horsham, and then, coincidentally, went past my house :P

What an awesome sight that was coming up the road to Rusper - a sight out of close encounters wa about right. Mark Bayliss must have been via Gatwick airport and nicked one of their searchlights  so bright was his front light. The only trouble was being at the front, all I could see was my shadow stretching in front of me.

Marky Mark must take the prize for rear lights - not often you get dazzled by the rider in front

White shorts - well it was dark wasn't it 8)

Another one.....hmmmmm Watch this space

I should be up for it - if the weather looks OK - at the moment it looks wet!

I will confirm once I've looked at the forecast on Friday

Also, I will pick up en-route around Merstham / Reigate

So, if it is still on - can someone let me know the planned route and leaving time?

Was thinking about 1am and meeting @ the Texaco garage by the bottom of the Reigate steps (I'm riding up from Crawley).

Route was thinking of :-
Redhill
Salfords
Smallfields
Copthorne
Felbridge
East Grinstead
Ashurst Wood
Forst Row
Ashdown Forest (not going up the wall)
Wych Cross
Danehill
Sheffield Park
Chailey
Lewes
Newheaven
Peaceheaven
Saltdean
Brighton.
