Future rides

Postby Amy » Sat Aug 08, 2009 7:44 pm

Starting with next week, does anyone fancy doing my alternative club run route?

If anyone's doing some longer rides at about the 17/18s speed, I'll be up for coming along.

I'm also thinking of doing some longer rides - I'd like to do the Balcombe ride again, get in a ride to Amberley and also at some time before the days get too short, try to get to Bosham. If anyone knows routes already to these places, I'll be happy to let you lead 8)

I should be out next week Amy. Don't mind a pre-12 steady spin on a different route.

What about:
Merstham-Bletchingley-Horne-Lingfield-Dormansland-FourElms-Chartwell-Westerham-cafe stop-Pilgrims Way-Star or Polhill-Cudham-Biggin Hill-Tatsfield-Warlingham-home.

[Edit: Be about 30 miles to the cafe stop and 55 in total to Warlingham from CSS. A bit lumpier than a normal CR with a couple of hills on the way, but nothing hard. Practically all nice lanes after the turnoff at Merstham. A variety of cut off points if anyone needs to head for home].

Yes come to the Dulwich girls chain gang on a Wednesday night.. awesome fun, once Palace is over a big group will be going weekly.
If you can ride 18s on the CR you’ll be fine,
when we have been before there is a good mix and the girls one (when not high jacked by the addiscombe boys) they regroup at junction

I'm certainly up for trying some different / longer routes. I like the sound of Andrew's ride, especially if we do star hill!

Well, there you have me. I want to get up to speed in the near future - I'd really like to try the 19s again (last time it went off a bit too fast as George was in it...). However, I'd also like to do some different rides - at a reasonable lick of course 8) . Andrew's ride sounds good but  senior has asked if I would do my alternative club run route - well, I would love to but I have a bit of a quandary... I want to get more people trying out that route but I also want to do it faster... I need someone who knows the route and is willing to take out a gentleman's 15/16

Graham suggested that I take out such a group on a Saturday and then find a faster ride on the Sunday but that's out for this weekend as I'm helping sort out his garage :( (OK I'm not :( as I might get to play with the cats :D )

Roy, I hope that came over OK - it's just that I'm so close to getting back to where I was 2 years or so...

I'm don't think the old man will be out this week anyway Amy so no need to worry (I'm sure you weren't losing sleep though :D ). Didn't mean to hikack a route as the one I mentioned goes nowhere near anywhere you suggested  .

I don't get to many CRs during the season so would like a bit of company on Saturday. If there's less than 5 or 6 interested in the route I posted then I'll just do the normal CR. If it's a go-er then I was thinking of "comfortable in 18s standard rider" group, although as ever that's an indication of speed/effort/ability.

During winter I'll do the above route quite regularly anyway for anyone who fancies something a bit different.

Amy,

If your interested I can do a Lactate Balance Point test on you to see what your body is doing whilst cycling if your interested?

The test record power, oxygen sat levels, lactate, respiratory & HR. The cost is £45. I'm not looking for business as I just do it on and off these days for fun.

Wouldn't get hung up on speeds as my rides vary from 15mph to 22mph (1hr to 6hrs) depending what I'm stressing in my workouts.

Fine by me, Amy. I had a very happy ride with 3 ladies to Box Hill this Saturday past, so I am sure I can fit in somewhere!

It's not that I'm hung up on speed - I'm just happy to be going better than I have been in awhile. However I did set myself a target of getting back into the 19s by the time summer is out and giving the blokes something to worry about again :D

I'm almost there - just missing the top of my strength, speed and stamina.

To get back to the original thread, if there's enough 17/18s interested in the alternative route, I'll take a ride that way one Saturday. It's a little hillier, especially at the start, than the normal club run. And right now the added attraction, is that it avoids that awful motorway junction while they're having fun with it.
