Can I borrow some pedals?

Postby Wal » Fri Aug 14, 2009 3:41 pm

...for a friend who's doing a London to Paris ride for charidee next month. I've offered to loan him my spare road bike but as he's a once-a-year cyclist he doesn't own any proper cycling shoes, and I don't have any non clip-in pedals. Does anyone have any of the old MTB-style toe-cage pedals that I could borrow? Even just the pedals sans cages & straps would be fine; I've dug out an old pair of MTB toe cages and straps.

My friend is coming to pick up the bike on Tuesday; if you're in Croydon I could pick them up on the weekend, or if you're anywhere near the A23 between Crawley and Croydon I could perhaps swing by on the way home from work on Monday. Or bring them along to CSS tomorrow morning; I'll be attending the clubrun (but won't be stopping at the cafe in Charlwood).

Many thanks in advance.

I'm sure I have a pair of suitable pedals, but I'm in Bromley and have just moved house.

If I can find them in the garage tonight, I'll put them in a plastic bag and bring them to CSS tomorrow.

What size feet does he have Wal?

If he has size 45 (European)/10 (UK) feet, then I'll probably have some suitable cycling shoes for with clips and straps that he could borrow as well, but somebody would have to come to Bromley for them, 'cos I don't fancy carrying them round the clubrun in jersey pockets.

Just spoke to my mate; it turns out his feet are size 10 and he'd love to borrow the shoes, but I'm not sure I'll have a chance to get over to Bromley to pick them up. He said he's happy just using his running shoes, so if you could just bring the pedals to the clubrun, that'd be superb.

See you tomorrow!
