MARSHALS: Crystal Palace Promo 25 Aug - See page 2

Folks, it's nearly time for our August Crystal Palace event (Tue 25 Aug)....so this is the usual plea for volunteers please. This is a nice one to get your marshalling duty done on....sensible start time (6.30pm), easy to get to (Crystal Palace) and a chance of some decent weather (don't hold me to that!).

So far we've got Andrew Green, Hal Bransby, Iain McIntosh, Serena Stracey, John Moore, Terry Taylor and Chloe Thomas.

Could do with half a dozen more please. I've got a vague memory of a few other folk who put their names down ages ago on one of Snoop's earlier marshalling posts (Andy E, Sean H, Marky Mark, Mr Green senior?). Could you let me know if I've recalled correctly and if you can still do it - apologies if I've misremembered!

If anyone else can help please post here or drop me a pm.

ps - rather embarassingly, having signed up to organise marshals for this one, I've now got to work in Birmingham that day so won't be able to get to the racing on time. Thankfully Mr has kindly stepped in to be your contact on the day.

I make that 16, plus Tamar when/if she can make it.

By my logic (often misguided) that will be plenty and should even allow for a couple of last minute can't makes/stuck at works. Being a closed circuit marshaling solo is fine but in pairs is much nicer so you're not on your tod somewhere in the bushes, although some people go in for that sort of thing.

2 @ hill, by side gate and to be around to call out in case of accidents.

I think that would cover ever place I've ever seen a marshal at Palace. Some weeks there aren't some in a couple of the places as they are bonuses rather than necessary.

I won't be racing (recovering) but it would be good if as many Addiscombe as possible could. It's the last CP of the season (I think) and regardless of how you do you'll get loads of support.

Sorry Adam we can't control that . I'll buy you a drink if you win though.

There have been huge numbers of them compared to others this year and it spoils the racing a bit for me, I like variety. It's not their fault I think it's a poor show from other clubs that don't turn up and mix it with them.

Tamar mooted the idea, which sounds good to me, that we scoot over to a local tavern for a drink afterwards. Will obviously depend on the weather. I'll be on my bike as will others, so perhaps bringing a beer and just chilling in the park afterwards would be better.

I thought pub might be better than chilling in the park on account of it will be mostly dark by the time the racing's over.
