Reading in this week’s comic, I see SRAM are doing a product recall on the powerlink bit of the SRAM chain’s (10 Speed)
This brought back memories, as my chain snapped (edit :powerlink bit was no where to be seen) during a time trail in May. I was kindly rescued, out on the course by Jon H, and Tim, who dropped me off home.
At the time, I was slightly baffled, as it was a brand new chain and it’s a rare occurrence that I buy a new one.
So last night, I find the box, as that’s all I have left and inside are one or two links, where the chain was too long, Yes, it’s a 10 Speed SRAM Chain.
Now I phone Evans and then importer Fisher, to see what they have to say. Both of them say I need to send the powerlink and say it’s not a problem with the chain ?
I explain I don’t have the powerlink. I do have the box, and a link or two of the chain.
They say the details on the box or the chain won’t tell them if the powerlink, was at fault and it’s not the chain.
I repeat I don’t have the powerlink, they repeat you need to send the powerlink and it’s not the chain.
I‘ve used KMC chains since, have had no problems.
Snoop’s comments now seem very appropriate.
(Hopefully i have copied the link from the results page correctly)
